I hate this nonsense
-
. We've lost two out of 4 and have looked crap in the of 3 them. It a massive worry
-
Hang on, we bought 8 average players and played 6 of them here. We had one shot in target and the goalie didn't have a save to make. Looked like strangers out there. You do the math. When I say average, I'm taking relative. We are taking about a team supposedly challenging for the league. In that respect, average
-
Oh f*** off. We've sold or best player for millions and bought 7 average players. Put it how you like, we've done the same thing and will (are now) paying for it

Gerrards days are numbered. Rodgers biggest mistake was not replacing him, not Suarez. Although saying that, sheet watching Suarez gracing us for a few years, watching borini and Lambert up front made me want to cry, two of the worse strikers to pull on the red shirt, and we've had some stinkers
-
Absolutely f***ing appalling. I said time and time again it had to be quantity over quality. Anyone who thinks we haven't done a spurs is misguided and mistaken. We've decided to bulk up the squad with average players after losing our best, only, world class player. If anyone thinks any of our signings are in the same league as Costa, fabregas, Sanchez, falcao, di Maria, (or existing quality some of our 'rivals' have such as Silva, navas, aguero, hazard etc), we are deluding ourselves. We'll be lucky to finish top 6

This isn't a knee jerk reaction, and I understand Gerard is the captain and leader, but from a footballing perspective he seems to offer us less and less as time goes on. the modern game is about pace, energy and aggressive pressing. Gerrard had no legs to do that really. And ask he seems to do is collect from the centre backs and give it to Henderson or coutinho.
-
Lazar, lallana, coutinho, all of the pace at the moment, need at last one our two of them to step it up

Tottenham Hotspur (away) Sunday 31st August 1.30pm kick-off
rjlfc replied to Sir Tokyo Sexwale 's topic in Liverpool FC
Very very impressive. And somewhat relieved. Feared we might drop points at both the city game and this one coming early in the season and also we haven't looked or usual self before today. But that was great. Sharp, great movement and pressing. A few nervous moments but got better add the game went on. new signings went really well too -

Ffs Stevie keep the ball -
Can looks f***ing awful. Only been on 20 mins looks slow and ponderous against players who've been playing for 95.
-
Moreno at fault again unfortunately. That flick from jovrtic he was all over the shop, totally out of position
-
Was always worried when the fixtures can't out we'd get little from these and spurs, just a feeling rather than anything else
-
If we can all see the issue with Johnson, surely to f***ing god Rodgers can. I'd also bring on markovic
-
Think he'll go with the team that's in the Times. Can't see manquilo getting the nod over Johnson, not for this game early on the season anyway. Will be good to have an option on the bench in markovic, i'd also throw lallana on the bench too, if he's back in full training it just means he's not match fit, so be good to have an option for 10 minutes from him. Finally, please play Allen or even Can before lucas

To be honest I must faith in our recruitment team to secure the higher bracket of players several Windows ago. We've had so many failed attempts at getting in to players, but I mistakenly thought we might be able to pull off someone really top drawer this summer to replace Suarez, with bags of cash available and cl to offer. If we end up with eto, I really f***ing despair. We've done great bulking up the squad, but I don't think I first team has really improved. With our competitors improving their first team that is a massive concern. The fact is, the top players we've been linked with ARE available if we really want them, most players are. It's how the likes of city got aguaero, Silva, dzecko, utd for van persie, Chelsea Torres, hazard etc. Just don't think we are willing to go that extra yard for the best
-
If what Rodgers said about nothing imminent and waiting until the last week in August is true, especially when we are desperate for a striker, then it means there is a waiting game going on with regards to our primary target if we are being that deliberate about leaving it so late. To me (unfortunately) this in all likelihood means bony, and we are playing a game with Swansea trying to get him for a lower price. There is a possibility that we are waiting on whether Madrid go for falcao, and well mine in if they don't, but unfortunately I can't see it...

I see there is a 'match' on lfc tv at 7.30pm. Presumably this is the bvb game?

To be honest this is turning into a real f***ing s*** summer transfer window. Spending a s*** load of money is one thing, but list our potential team to face Southampton compared to the one that finished the season against Newcastle. Not much different, Lovren for Skrtel maybe and markovic for Suarez possibly. Failed on the one truly class player (again, as seems to happen every window) in Sanchez and uninspiring squad reinforcedments. Very very disappointing. Like how we took a point on an injured Carroll for silly money and aqullani too and now not Remy for 8.5m who has had a full season bring him in the prem. People are questioning wanting players like reus or benzema saying they are not realistic but why shouldn't they be. We have a bag full of money to spend and cl football and a historic brand. Think we are making a big mistake tbh, think Suarez basically had the season of his life and nearly dragged us to the title, and Rodgers in fairness played a blinder. If he can do the same again with our current squad, fair play, but I have my doubts. Chelsea yet again have bought quality. City are city, arsenal stronger and utd will buy well even with no cl I have no doubt. Just think we've gone about this window all wrong tbh.

Check out @ LFC's Tweet: https://twitter.com/ LFC/status/ 490834912174678017 Is that borini next to reina and Enrique?
-
Look at Chelsea's signings, look at ours. Do you honestly believe we are shopping in the same brackets?
-
100% agree with this. Our stock is as high as it's been for a long while, we have money (and wages) to spend that only happens once in a blue moon, unless you have a Russian tycoon or the like. I will be very very disappointed if we continue to add fringe players or players we could have signed without the lure of champs league etc I'm not sure any of the other top four or five will be worried about the sort of signings we are making or linked to. We have the perfect opportunity now, we can't afford to keep missing out on top targets for the sake of a few million in fees or wages. Im sure for example if we'd thrown another 30k or 50k per week at Sanchez he wouldn't have minded living in Liverpool instead of London to much
-
My point is nothing to do with only getting Suarez money and no more, I'm assuming that we get that plus 30/40. My point I'd that fans have every right to be pessimistic about getting the 'top' deals done after failing time and time again recently. I think there are lots of top players out there of intertional quality if you are willing to dish the wonga. We have CL and loads of money. No excuses in my book to not keep up with the likes of Chelsea and man city (this summer anyway). Lallana looks very good and yes is proven premiership, but there are loads of premership players who've been playing in that division for a long time who I wouldn't want to playing in a team fighting the the league and wanting to be competitive in the cl. My point is he hasn't proven himself a winner or internationally. He isn't even a regular in a poor England side. This sounds like a dig at lallana but it's not, I think he'll do well for us giving us more options, but I think despite his high cost is a squad player along with our other signings so far, rather than a guaranteed top class starter like a kroos or Sanchez (just examples). Each of the current signings is good if part of a bigger story in terms of recruitment, but we've been here before getting 'decent' early signings but the 'edge of the seat' signings promised or hinted at never materialise. I think the quality level of our next few signings needs to be increased, even more so now Suarez is going, and I'm not convinced by the recruitment team to do it, our track record speaks for itself.
