Keane, 28, said: "I'm under no illusions, this is a massive, massive club and at the price they paid for me, the fans are expecting that I am here to win things," explained Keane. He believes that with his addition to what now amounts to a potent forward line, the Merseyside club have the ammunition to make a sustained assault on top spot and relieve Manchester United of their title. "That responsibility is not a problem for me because I know the manager has bought me to help push Liverpool on further towards the title," he said. "I am looking forward to that challenge, I'm not one to shy away from a challenge. "I believe that with the squad that we have and the new players coming in, we are capable of giving the fans what they want." Keane was brought up on Liverpool sweeping all before them in the 1980s, establishing themselves as the most feared side in England and Europe. And he wants to emulate his heroes from that era by giving the fans the trophies they crave to help create a new dynasty of success at Anfield. "I certainly think we can challenge Manchester United and Chelsea. Nothing less should be expected of a club this size," he explained. "If you look at the squad of players that were already here, along with the addition of a few more, then there is no reason we shouldn't be challenging for the Premier League and other trophies.
