We've had a string of sub-par strikers and wingers when Rafa should have bitten the bullet and splashed the extra couple of million on a first-choice winger or striker (Alves, Simao) instead of stop-gaps different to, but no better than what we had.

I reckon if Rafa threw all his eggs into the Premiership basket like he did with the CL in 2004/5 and last season, we'd win barring a very large slice of bad luck. I think we have more strength in depth than ManU and Arsenal and, given the consistency needed to win the league in recent years, Mourinho's sodding off will probably do for Chelsea this season. I'm just afraid that he's too dogmatic to do that, and I think he perhaps focuses too much on the CL. We should have been concentrating on Pompey away, not Porto away.
