  1. Kind of agree with that. If the Chavs put us out and the Scum end up in the final I know who I will be shouting for. But we WILL beat them to get to the final .. so thats that.
  2. Royals claim win over Feyenoord Sat 12 Aug, 5:30 PM Reading completed their pre-season friendlies with a morale-boosting 2-1 victory over Dutch side Feyenoord at The Madejski Stadium.South Korea's Seol Ki-Hyeon, signed from Wolves in the summer, made his home debut but it was Bobby Convey and Ivar Ingimarsson who scored the first-half goals to set up the win. Convey won a free-kick on the Reading left in the 22nd minute and picked himself up to swing in a cross which Dave Kitson converted from six yards. Less than 60 seconds later Nicky Shorey earned the Royals a corner and when convey rolled the ball to him he crossed once again for Kitson. This time the striker could not score but his effort rebounded off the woodwork and Ingimarsson was on hand to tap home the loose ball. Just after the hour Pierre van Hooijdionk flicked on a corner and substitute Benjamin de Cuelaer, who had been on the pitch just two minutes, stabbed home from close range. Feyenoord captain Dirk Kuyt, who is attracting interest from Liverpool and Newcastle, looked lively throughout but could not find a breakthrough. Van Hooijdonk could have equalised in the last minute when his 20-yard volley beat Marcus Hahnemann but crashed against the post and away to safety.
  3. See his left foot volley for Holland V Macedonia - great strike ... great goal.
  4. Dont think he did until he returned from WC2002. But yes we did line him up prior to comp. Point being Kuyt has had tons of forum scouts, Youtube clips etc etc and EHD V France was the first sight most kopites got of him.
  5. Simple choice - do ya want a player who is pleasing to the eye up front, good control, touch etc, looks a 'correct' type of forward but can hardly score then Nando's yer man and Crouch for that matter. OR Keep Cisse played out wide to run at/behind defenders lightning pace - loads of goals from right flank/bench and STILL GET ANOTHER STRIKER TO BANG EM IN. Cisse is one of a rare breed who knows where the net is - managers can coach defenders and midfielders to do their job - but you can't coach goalscoring - Its a gift. Think it was Aldo who hit the nail on the head in a comment he made in one of the last away league games we had when he knew that our midfield could not be squeezed up to coz their defence (think it was W Ham) would have left acres for Cisse. He does a good job for Rafa and played out wide is a genuine ASSET. Keep him - deffo.
  6. If there is a better 20 goal a season winger out there ... I say get rid We still need couple of goalscoring CF's to out score Crouch and Mori !

Like him or not he gives Rafa options. Our manager loves his 'options' as we hear him say and Djibs does posses frightening speed which no one else has in our forward line. He could do with more refinement in front of goal mind but he has the knack of scoring goals - even playing as a winger for most of the season. Rafa is not stupid. He knows the value of a goalscorer. He also know - cast iron knows - that Mori and Crouch cannot be relied on to score enough to take us onto the next level. I think Rafa has been very clever with Cisse. He has shown him how he can contribute to the team without him getting the hump at not being at centre F. Good man management. It shows with the other players as well - they do seem to really like him. I am sure he wont be going anywhere - just my opinion.

    Cisse

The above applies to our forwards who get to play in their prefered position week in week out !!! 17 goals is a fantastic return for a winger/sub/hate figure !!!!!!!

Djibs ...He is one of the fastest wingers in the league ... good crosser .... chips in with a few good goals as well .... not the perfect wide man though .... YES ... deffo keep him .... mind you I think our centre forwards ...whose job it is to hit the net must be sweating a bit (GOD is ok in my book though). After all if Rafa is happy with him ... so am I
  10. To back Hansen's comment up ... it happened .... late 70's. Think the BBC show was 'The Big Time'.. same one Sheena Easton had her break on. They took a lad from the Liverpool Sunday League or similar.. good player ... trained him up and he played for our beloved LFC. The game was an end of season testimonial - cant remember who - may have been Cally - and the lad did well. Who ever we played thought he was a squad member when they were told. Someone with a better memory than mine may shed some more light on this ..
  11. 70's .... My first ever game - V Bluesh*te when I was about 7 scored by Brian Hall - my sisters then boyfriend took us as he was trying to impress her ... me jumpin all over the place when we scored didn't bode well for them as they split soon after ... bitter blue .. well shut !! 80's ..... Rushies 2nd in 86 Cup Final V Bluesh*te .... what a feeling. 90's ..... Nicol diving header Kop end from Lawro cross V Bluesh*te in our last title winning season 00s' Against Bluesh*te this season by Djib's coz they thought they would take us at half time and fair play to the guy he scores a pearler .... The Venom towards us by them makes it all the sweeter ..... Hmmmm anyone spot a trend !!
  12. I am stunned .... I thought back to the bad time he had before he left when he couldn't trap a bag of cement and looked so sssllloooowwwww .... but that was under GH who did him no favours at all the way we were set up. He looks quite lean ... not injured ....still scoring .... hmmm. Is in now way a bad signing coz no matter what he will give a big lift to the team .... we do see a lot of knock downs from Crouch go begging and we deffo create more and work the ball into the box better now than in GH's time. Really looking forward to see how this pans out.... Now I know why he missed that pen for City in the last game of their season ..... didn't wanna be cup tied in Europe ...haha.
  13. I would just like to say that if I woke up from a 5 year coma to learn that the Bluesh*te scum had been relegated to the Conference North I would so so gutted ........... that it wasn't the effin UNIBOND or similar !!!
