Royals claim win over Feyenoord Sat 12 Aug, 5:30 PM Reading completed their pre-season friendlies with a morale-boosting 2-1 victory over Dutch side Feyenoord at The Madejski Stadium.South Korea's Seol Ki-Hyeon, signed from Wolves in the summer, made his home debut but it was Bobby Convey and Ivar Ingimarsson who scored the first-half goals to set up the win. Convey won a free-kick on the Reading left in the 22nd minute and picked himself up to swing in a cross which Dave Kitson converted from six yards. Less than 60 seconds later Nicky Shorey earned the Royals a corner and when convey rolled the ball to him he crossed once again for Kitson. This time the striker could not score but his effort rebounded off the woodwork and Ingimarsson was on hand to tap home the loose ball. Just after the hour Pierre van Hooijdionk flicked on a corner and substitute Benjamin de Cuelaer, who had been on the pitch just two minutes, stabbed home from close range. Feyenoord captain Dirk Kuyt, who is attracting interest from Liverpool and Newcastle, looked lively throughout but could not find a breakthrough. Van Hooijdonk could have equalised in the last minute when his 20-yard volley beat Marcus Hahnemann but crashed against the post and away to safety.
