For me the right flank going forward is as good if not better than any team in the Prem - the left side could be better. Dont think Ngog could be relied on as yet but he didn't cost £20 million so wouldn't expect him to.

Was gonna save this for the end of the season but the whole saga still has a stink about it for me. Whilst he scored a great goal v a*** and had a brace past Carson has his failure as a signing cost us as we look to the Mancs to drop points. Missed chances, air shots and missing in games ..... or is it just me. With Torres missing for half the season a 20 mill striker should have been great insurance ?

Miss what point ?? We have just banged another 4 at home past Arsenal .... Kuyt was ... Kuyt ... best compliment I can give him I won't even mention the assists (oh just have). So is replacing quality like Kuyt more of a prioity than eradicating some of the shambolic defending and defenders who's job it is to defend ..... because if it is I have heard everything. Great going forward .... schoolboy like mistakes by defenders have cost us 2 points tonight ....

Doesn't matter if its the 'end of season' or the start 2 points dropped is 2 points dropped - would not want to go to the tactics of 1-0 's either. Better defending than we have shown in parts of the season (FEB) and we would be better off.

Its not a laurel as I see it its a requirement for next season and was for this. How many 1-0 wins have the scum got this year ...

If we played more next season with Nando and Stevie plus our regular 4 across the mid we will progress. If we tighten up at the back we will progress. Put to bed leaking goals like we did against City, Hull, Spurs and Boro will see us progress. As has been said some players are vital to a teams overall play but they do not get the limelight that others do and Rafa knows that ... Whoever we play .. the oppo left back knows he will spend more time in his own half than he does in ours and thats down to Kuyt. Am wondering if he plays down the right tonight with a very young left back to go up against and let Yossi support Nando through the middle ????

You have likened Riera to Kuyt. If Reira stops doing what he is good at then there is not much use keeping him in the pitch and that is granted. With Kuyt its a much different position. And thats where he has shown Rafa has been correct to time and time again start the match with him either down the right or up front as cover for injuries. If he does loose form (and IMO thats been fine this season) then you get a player with all the other attributes that so many of the other forumites here have have singled out .. I won't repeat them. Looking back from this position in the league to the matches we have played I would not have played him any less and yes its easy to say that with hindsight lying second to the scum, because to say we would have won this game or that game with him replaced is nonesense as we could have lost this game or that game with him out the team. If we would have had more of Nando and Stevie through the middle with Kuyt and Riera out wide we would have been even better off this season - with hindsight !!

Correctamundo .. no one is perfect but Kuyt's thread here was started to show how much he is appreciated. There are plenty of other threads to have a go at him good or bad.

The proof is in the pudding ....... the manager picks the team ... and yep - he is the first on the sheet (or one of them) end of.

I would only put Gerrard, Reina and Torres on the teamsheet before Kuyt. An outstanding season from one of, if not the most professional footballers I have ever seen in 44 years of support for our club. His positive contribution to the team in every second of every game he plays should not be underestimated. He would walk into any team in the Prem and I for one am so proud he is ours. Long may he continue to wear our shirt ...

Watched a re run of the Super Cup Final yesterday where he bagged twice and created the 3rd for Garcia. He is at the right age for a striker to mature, over his injuries - its a funny old game. He is a goalscorer, they are like rockin horse. Sort his head and he is an asset.
