  1. I'm still hoping that they might be foolish enough to allow one or both of Gallas and Cavalho to leave over the course of the summer.
  2. Both Ballack and Schevchenko strike me as being signed with winning the Champions League in mind. I'm not convinced they'll make Chelsea that much more potent in the league.
  3. Not that I think its particularly important but Kuyt and Alves don't strike me being big name "edge of your seat" signings. One is (so far) only a squad player at the World Cup and the other hasn't made it to the World Cup at all.

  5. Its worth pointing out that Paisley had completely rebuilt the side he inherited by the time he left. He also did that more smoothly than Shankly did between 67 and 72.
  6. Reckon Keane was a much better player than Robson.
  7. Most Utd fans I know would love to have a player like Gerrard in their side at the moment. Its one thing to say you prefer to watch Ronaldinho over Keane. Its another to say Keane was an average passer/tackler with amateurish technique.
  8. If you're a WUM then the joke is wearing thin. If you're serious then.....
  9. Easily the best player of the second half of the 90's / early 00's. He deservedly won many plaudits for his tackling and leadership but his use of the ball was always underrated.

  12. This may be an indication that we will see more of Gerrard in CM and less at RM. I'm not convinced that's the best way to use Gerrard but time will tell.
  13. Sad to see him go (especially to a side like Bolton) but not entirely surprised he's left. He didn't get much of a look-in last season and I remember reading a comment in Balague's book to the effect that there was a limited rapport between Didi and Rafa, although Rafa understood how important his experience was to the other players. That just leaves Sami, Carra and Stevie from GH's treble winning side.
  14. I don't. He might be an odious character but Neville is a capable enough RB, who has a good understanding with Beckham and whose club form has been steady over the last year (c.f. Ferdinand). Carra is a superb CB, who hasn't played RB for his club for over 2 years. When he did play RB, he was solid enough defensively but less comfortable overlapping.
  15. Agree with that.
  16. There was piece in one of the broadsheets recently about how he is preparing for life after football by building up the Rio brand....
  17. I thought he was suspended.....

  19. Agree with that. Always thought it was a bit lazy to automatically compare Carra with Terry.
  20. That was bad enough to get him subbed by a furious Ferguson and dropped by SGE.
  21. Why? Its not as if pacy strikers are a recent invention.
  22. Terry would be in my side but I must admit I'm interested to see how he fares without Makelele in front of him and with an overlapping LB to cover for in Cole.
  23. And you are less scared at the prospect of Ferdinand coming up against Henry or Ronaldo? Remember Ronaldo's hattrick at Old Trafford a few years ago - he took Ferdinand to the cleaners. I can't think of too many who haven't.
