Arne Slot: “We have had so many setbacks or hits. So many times we didn't get what we deserve but three days later they showed up again with a good performance that didn't lead to a win. There were only three halves were the other team were far better, Palace, City and Arsenal." What is he watching? Completely delusional
-
Better motivator of of men than Hannibal persuading a load of North Africans to cross the alps on the snow with a a load of elephants this one. One of the all time greats.
-
“They were better in the first half… don’t think they got many big chances from dominating. But we kept fighting, we tried to do things different. If we can add a little bit with the help of the fans we can force some mistakes and play some good football. And that’s what we did in the second half against a very strong city team.” We’re the champions who spent more than £400m in the summer playing against the worst Manchester City side in years and we’re hoping they make a mistake, you massive meff!!

“Fair to say it's the toughest season for me as a manager by a mile. Don't think I'd ever previously lost two games in a row. It's an exception for me and the players, they aren't used to losing and drawing so much. “This season has been more challenging for me. But I also look at how much improvement we are making. Main thing as manager is results, but next thing is seeing players can improve and I'm seeing that. “Our performances are much better now than at the start of the season where we started playing a double programme. Since we went into that we started to drop a lot of points.”

Slot on Calvin Ramsay's lack of game time: "If you don’t win a game, the players who are not playing become the best players in the squad."
-
Correct 3rd not 4th with 69 points and Allison scored. We finished the season with Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips at the back. Imagine Slot having to deal with that?
-
Also didn’t have any centre backs, and still had the ability to sort it out and finish 4th with 69 points and he hadn’t had half a billion pounds lavished on the squad in the summer. We’re on course for 52-59 points. There are no signs of green shoots, there’s no sign of improvement, he’s breaking every negative record there is to get. The football is some of the worst ever served up by a Liverpool team. The real comparison isn’t with Klopp it’s with Hodgson who over the same number of games has a better record with a far worse squad. Klopl lost 6 on the bounce is the most disingenuous argument around for excusing this omnishambles that Slot is presiding over
-
I’ve got a bad feeling they (Liverpool’s hierarchy) are buying/pushing the narrative that the squad isn’t sufficient and will be addressed in the summer and Slot will continue with some new players and coaches into next season much like Rodger’s was allowed to continue.

Since the 1st of September we are winning an average of 1.4 games per month, if that continues that is equal to 5.6 games between now and the end of the season, so if we round that up to 6, then estimate the draws which 24% of the games so far this season would give us 3 draws in the remaining fixtures. That would give us a final tally of 21 points from remaking games and a total of 60 points for the season. 60 points last season would have us finishing 9th or in the 23-24 season 7th. So no it’s really unlikely we will qualify for Europe next season. a bigger concern again is that we have won only 1 league game in 2026 and drawn 4, so averaging 1 point a game this year. If we carry that on that will give us a final tally of 52 points, which would have us finishing 13th last season or 10th the one before. That form would give you 40 over a full season which is 16th last season and the season before. So unless there is a miracle then there’s no chance we make the champions league. The conference will be a struggle. It’s completely dire, this season is being written off but the impact without Klopp to fix things anymore will take years to fix. -
Monday morning scrap gerrrin!!

We won’t win, we might not lose. But we’ll definitely play badly. -

It’s a weird mixture of resignation and impotent rage about this ongoing situation. The resignation is both during the match that we’ll fail to win, and play badly, but there’s also the the post game resignation that nothing will change, the manager will remain and the coaching will remain poor. Then there’s the rage, and this is at several things, firstly with myself for the resignation, we shouldn’t be accepting this, it’s not good enough, but ultimately we’re just shouting into the void, because nobody with any power to change things is listening or want to do anything about it. Then there’s the rage at the piss poor performances, it’s not necessarily the losing it’s the cowardice and ineptitude of the performances, the set up, the tactics. There’s the denials by the management anything is wrong and we’re just unlucky, the inertia, the self destructive and wilful neglect of inaction, and the self preservation of those at the senior levels of the club so attention isn’t drawn on them. But then it’s the resignation again that the rage is aimed at people not competent, and not willing to act. It’s disrespectful to the fans and the club how it’s currently being run. All that work Klopp put in developing a team that we could be proud of, reconnecting and reinvigorating the fan base, making the club the most feared across Europe, and within 18 months of him leaving it’s on the verge of being wiped away timidly by people not qualified to run this club. These records we’re breaking might be acceptable and permissible at Bournemouth or Portsmouth, they’re not here, and the arrogant mutterings that come from the club about patience and ignoring the noise are insulting. Slot needs to go, so does Hughes, so does Edwards -
This is such a bizarre take from the game from one of them. The mental contortions that must go on to get to his sort of outcome is mad.
-
It’s almost like they take a contrarian position as though they are some sort of moral arbiters of what it is to be ‘the best fans in the country’ even when the evidence shows the opposite. It’s all very ‘respect the office of Liverpool Manager’ no matter what.

A big part of the issue is that the man responsible for the future of Slot is someone who’s grounded in the expectations of clubs the size of Bournemouth. However good a job he did for a club of that size that does not qualify you to run the biggest and most successful club in the country. He needs to be f***ed off as well. -
Under Klopp if we went behind even if it was 2 I never thought we’d lose, always believed we come back and win the game. Under Slot even if we are 1-0 up with 5 minutes to go I think we’ll lose, and we do, often, very often.

I was happy in the haze of a a decent half hour But heaven knows I'm miserable now
-
FFS I forgot we had that misery to look forward to before we get knocked out of the cup. How long before he mentions PSG again ?
-
He’s got other players and different tactics he can use. He’s can coach the team, to play a different way, he doesn’t though. He had a whole week without games to come up with that s*** this afternoon. You could give him our 2019-20 team and he’d turn them into also rans this season the way he’s managing the team.

Probably because hes exhausted the same 12 players who have have been run into the ground. Perhaps a competent manager who rated and used his squad wouldn’t be on this position. Villa have got loads of injuries and a worse squad than us and they are 3rd. -
Will probably get knocked out of the FA cup next week and still nothing will change
