Hughes and Edwards clearly not done a good job in recruitment over the summer for the squad to look so unbalanced and lacking in options. The smugness this summer was unreal as well. Don’t think they are the types to admit their mistakes quickly either. Slot and those two really have messed the season up, but even taking into account the recruitment issues we should be playing much better than this and that is in Slot and his players

De Bruyne and Silva at Manchester City were hardly outstanding in their first seasons. It happens loads, the price tag is a focus here, but he’s obviously a quality player adjust a new league. I’m not convinced we are playing to his (and others) strengths at present which doesn’t help either

Ye, we look really poor at full back. I reckon Robertson is still the best of them by some considerable distance and nowhere near the player he was. Bradley might come good still but he’s not top class, Frimpong looks better attacking than defending, and Kerkez is nowhere near the quality I thought we were getting. I don’t think Kerkez has been helped by Gakpo being utter shire as well and repeatedly cutting inside and blasting it at the first defender.

At the end of the season, they waited until it was finished, can’t see them doing anything different here unless we’re in big trouble. It also focuses attention on Hughes and Edwards also. Dalglish is interesting with FSG as they never really wanted him, and sacking Hodgson sort of forced him on them, which again is a situation I think they’ll want to avoid. saying this though they did also act on Rodger’s part way through the season when it was obvious he couldn’t do the job after giving him plenty of time. Just don’t see anything happening until next summer unless we really are in trouble.

Unless we’re in danger of relegation I don’t see him going anywhere this season. I think the club will ride it out unless it becomes a real risk and only act at the end of the season. FSG have always been patient, Hodgson was sacked due to the level of fan pressure, and them being new to the sport I don’t see them caving like that again to opinion. There’s some serious question marks over Hughes and Edwards as well here, this is more than a transitional issue. The problems were evident from the charity shield onwards. The tactics aren’t working with the players we have, now that’s either a failure to use tactics that suit the players we have or a failure to recruit the players that fit the way the manager wants to play. Either way it’s a massive issue that isn’t going away fast. We’re in a serious freefall that doesn’t like like stopping any time soon. Last season wasn’t luck, it was due to us being a brilliant team, got to wonder though whether the use of such a small group of players has burned the core of them out and the new players simply haven’t gelled, or can’t gel with the tactics employed. There was probably also an element of momentum from the Klopps last season going into last season which has been difficult to maintain because we won it, and because those players were worked hard all season.

This is worse than under Rodger’s at this point, and that was a disaster. Need to find a different way of playing and fast as this is just not working whatever it’s supposed to be. Don’t see we’re the turn around comes from at present. We’re far too easy to play against and have been since the charity shield. The only game we’ve looked solid in was against arsenal. Because they refused to attack us.

We’re too open, and too slow going forward, then too wasteful. We’ve actually been wasteful for ages but controlled games much better. Gakpo doesn’t work as hard as Diaz getting back and carrying it, Salah looks done in already, porous in midfield, chaotic at the back, and not scoring. So much wrong. we’ve been poor since the end of last season but got away with it, it’s now catching up with us. We need to get more control in games again. I’d actually try Issak and Ekitike up together with Wirtz in behind then Szboszali, Mac Allister, and Gravenberch in midfield. Get Robertson back in at left back and Frimpong at right back l, both for width and their attacking play. Let Mo get his head together.

Needs the ball playing into him better, we’ve bought loads of players for loads of money and aren’t playing to any of their strengths

Hes nowhere near the biggest issue, he’s also a downgrade at present

Under the fraud Rodger’s last time we lost 4 in a row. Something very wrong at the minute that needs sorting. Struggling to score, can’t defend, midfield is passive.
