I'm concerned that we'll be so far ahead in the league by Christmas that Mourinho panics and goes on a Ronaldinho/Messi/Rooney/Tevez/Torres spending spree. I'm concerned that Gerrard will get a career threatening shoulder injury from lifting all those trophies. I'm concerned that involvement in the League Cup, Champions League and FA Cup finals might distract us from the league.

England could play Hargreaves/Carrick in centre mid, which is almost as good as Sissoko/Alonso... It'll be interesting to see how many times Lampard actually passes the ball the Gerrard. He didn't do it very much during the world cup, and noticably less often than the other way round.

If McClaren was really smart he'd play Gerrard in central midfield and put Lampard where he belongs... on the bench.

I think we could have an inconsistent start to the season. Even Bellamy and Pennant - who know all about the Premiership - will need time to click with their new team mates. Our other new singings will need some time to adapt. I think we're going to need to be a little patient. If we can get some consistently good results in the first ten games then I think we're in with a good chance of pushing Chelsea all the way. I think we play all three of Chelsea, Arsenal and ManU away before we play them at home, so if we're there or thereabouts come Christmas I think it could be very very close.

Don't say it too loud, but it was Houllier who moved Carra back to centre half for his (Houllier's) last couple of games. I think it's fair to say that Rafa agreed with that decision
