Hope so. I thought he was fine last season. Not great but can get behind him and hope Iraola improves him. I was in the ground yesterday though and he was really bad. To the point where I assumed he was either injured or ill.

Blaming Kerkez for Gakpo repeatedly cutting inside and ignoring the runner is just bullsh*t I'm afraid. The best chance we created second half yesterday was when Kerkez was actually released and put a ball in for Wirtz to put one on a plate for Isak to blaze over.

Gakpo was good first half but crap second half yesterday. All last season's frustrations were evident again; poor decision making and too predictable. That's who he is - steady who can blow hot and cold - and that's fine as a backup to Barcola and sometimes Isak imo. He's experienced and knows his way around the league. He's not good enough to be a regular starter though and he's reached his ceiling. He's not exactly a pressing machine either which is what Iraola wants. If he's pushing for a move for more minutes then I can understand us looking to cash in. The important bit is how we replace him - same with Diaz. If Barcola is the Diaz replacement who is replacing Gakpo, Munoz? That leaves two 18 year olds on the right wing, assuming we get Mbaye as well. We'll be starting the season with 5 forwards who have played less than 50 senior appearances for the club.

Without wanting to go all Bruno Cherou he looked fkin great. Very aggressive and front footed, quick enough, read the game well, good on the ball and won all his tackles. Can ping it as well. Hope he's fit for Newcastle.

Jacquet was great. Araujo was sound. Frimpong looked good. Kerkez was all over the shop. Midfield doesn't work. Any half decent opposition will just pop it around them and exploit the gaps. If the trade off going the other way was worth it then fair enough but they aren't linking up well enough and creating either. Isak was anonymous and there is no backup. Gakpo was good first half but reverted to type second. Ngumoha is not a starter; even less so on the right. Barcola, Mbaye and Macca will not sort it.

Not much to get excited about there tbh. Centre of defence looks sorted but everywhere else has questions.

If Baleba is available for £60m then we should surely be interested. Wonder if Brighton would want Elliott.
