I know what you mean NYR. Many's the time I ended up on the floor with somebody standing on my back in the Kop. There was no way you could avoid going down when there was a surge to see a corner kick or a shot on goal. At the time, because I didn't get injured I laughed it off, but with hindsight it could have been really bad. Today I would stand in a Kop again, but would prefer the way they do it in Germany with computer designed crush barriers etc, and easier access via designated gangways.

I went to a game against Leeds when they where our main contenders for the title. The official capacity was something like 52,000 but I'll bet there were more than 60,000 that day, Never been so squashed in The Kop. That was the first time I'd feared for my safety at the ground. Everybody pissed where they stood..there was no way you could get to the bog if your life depended on it. Tghe problem with the Kop was there were no alleyways/gangways to get in and out with. At the end I was lifted off my feet for about 40 yards going out it was so packed.

Looks like we were right to stay behind the Boss and give him a good run at it then eh?

Well, this is a forum for debate, so it's good to see both sides of the argument.

..no, not the post strike When da boss won the Champions League I gave him a 5 year contract in my mind (good of me!). Surely that was the least he deserved for such a fabulous achievement? That gives him 2 more seasons to come up with the goods. Which would also stop the Mancs overtaking us in the number of league titles they've won. There are many who would hand the job over to Maureen by the end of the current 2007-8 term, but I think he's won the right to give it a decent shot to overturn our long run without the League Title. Will we need more players? Another centre back and a striker most likely. Perhaps others? Has he got the backing of the owners? Definitely! £££ available? He's been assured many times the money's there It would be fantastic to start our 1st season in the new stadium as champions with Rafa at the helm...wouldn't it?

"Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it" Hence our gaffer: always asked for a couch and got a standard lamp (or whayever it was at Valencia). So now, he gets loads of cash, backing from the new and old owners and what do we get? A single point in most games! Inconsistency, poor finishing, defeat by Besiktas, not playing the same team when we've won... Loads of opportunities and can't put the onion in the bag. WTF? I think there's something wrong in our camp. Mad team selections, daft rotation policy, change for changes sake, bizarre substitutions or lack of any at the right time...it goes on and on. Are we missing Paco? Is Stevie overshadowing the whole team? Is there some gypsy's curse? I think we shoulkd bite the bullet and get rid of Rafa. There, I've said it. I know we are good in cup competitions, but I want the league. Rafa has proved he can't deliver it.
