Transfer bids are usually faxed or emailed across, arent they? What would happen if a club sends across a bid, and the other club just literally ignores it, doesnt respond to it or even acknowledge it? Would the bidding club just think "Oh, they are thinking about it, give them a few days" or what?

Makes no sense to let him go now, he's contracted til 2013 and we arent going to get anyone in to play upfront - Anelka's not good enough. In the summer, it could turn into an auction. If the clause is true, then fine, we'll take £50m cash up front then and it gives us time between now and then, to sound out a proper replacement.

Or we can just keep him until the summer.

Anelka turns 32 in March, so the idea that NESV would want him seems to fly in the face of their theory on buying younger players with resale value.
