Sorry to hear about your dog, lost one of my black labs about 18 months ago. Never found out what she actually died of but the vet thinks she must of eaten something toxic while on the beach. oops must have pressed the wrong button didn't mean to put that quote in.

I'm 53 and can drink anyone under the table and I have never had a hangover.
-
You'll be surprised how many good days you get. Its always windy mind, but you can have all kinds of weather in a spell of half an hour lol
-
It may need moving, septic tanks are easy enough to deal with. No more bleaching the toilet etc though. lol Yes I think it was you I was talking to about the Northern Lights, you'll see them from Skye. The houses on the outer isles are cheaper than Skye. But the outer isles have more drawbacks. Getting to the mainland being the biggest one. Although the ferries are cheaper now. Enjoy your visit to Skye. believe it or not I have only visited Skye once the rest of the time it has just been sonewhere to cross to get the ferry to the Uists.

I do know what you mean about your boy. My youngest 2 were brought up on the islands and they could roam and be free. I wouldn't live down south for anything, I'm in Moray now and its a nice blend of rural and town.

Not trying to put a dampener on it, but think carefully about moving to the islands. The cost of living is high, theres a lack of shops, jobs are hard to come by. Might be an idea to get a B&B to run.

Biggest problem you'll find on Skye is the wind. Anything you try to grow will need lots of protection.

I thought this when we signed him just couldn't see where he fitted in.

I found with one of my kids it was the rigidness of the reading program that was the problem. When she was about five and a half she couldn't read at all (she has downs so the authorities were not really bothered), she went into hospital with pnuemonia for about 4 weeks. She was of school for about 6 weeks. One afternoon I went for a walk in town and headed into Smiths. They had all the old Ladybird Peter and Jane books so I bought a set and worked with her using them. By the time she went back to school she was making a good start with her reading. and more to the point enjoying it. At her annual review it was mentioned that she was reading and when I said the books that I was using the Ed Phy had a fit, saying that these books didn't really teach reading etc. etc. Well bullocks to him I thought and carried on, she now as an adult reads well and enjoys reading.
