  1. Dubai International Capital (DIC) have been rumoured to have placed a bid to buy Tranmere Rovers Football Club. 'DIC` have initiated a bid to purchase Tranmere Rovers F.C. for £19.75m. DIC see Tranmere Rover's role as being a feeder club to Liverpool Football Club as Tranmere Rovers are based near Liverpool but play in a lower division in English professional football." This coincides with negotiations for a takeover bid for Liverpool Football Club in a deal rumoured to be worth £479m. Liverpool and 'DIC` have confirmed that talks are in an advanced stage and things are looking good. http://www.liverpool.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=40799
  2. Liverpool move step closer to takeover by Maktoums Dominic Fifield Monday December 4, 2006 The Guardian Liverpool are on the verge of a new era after the chairman and majority shareholder, David Moores, granted Dubai International Capital permission to undertake due diligence in anticipation of a £450m takeover of the Anfield club. Moores and his chief executive, Rick Parry, have granted DIC, a company owned by Dubai's ruling Maktoum family, the exclusive right to study the club's books despite rival propositions drawn up by, among others, the US businessman George Gillett Jr - formerly owner of the Harlem Globetrotters - and the Belfast-based construction tycoon John Miskelly. Article continues -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Although the finer details of any deal with DIC will only become clear once due diligence has been carried out, it is understood that Moores has agreed to drop his initial valuation of the club to about £170m. That will see him accept about £4,500 a share - rather than £6,000 - with his majority 51% stake to be diluted. The Moores family has been involved with Liverpool since the 1950s and, rather than sever ties completely, Liverpool's chairman of 15 years is expected to be given an honorary role under the new regime. Parry may remain as chief executive, particularly given his heavy involvement in attempting to move the club to a new stadium in Stanley Park. Neither chairman nor chief executive will be on the flight to Istanbul today for the Champions League tie against Galatasaray. No formal announcement of a takeover is anticipated before Christmas but Liverpool's three-year search for new money appears to be drawing to a successful conclusion. In that time they have courted potential investment from parties as diverse as the Kraft family and Thaksin Shinawatra, the former prime minister of Thailand. DIC's chief executive, Samir al-Ansari, claims to be a supporter of the club but the company, although it has independent status, is ultimately owned by the Maktoums. They are willing to fund the £200m construction of a 60,000-seat stadium and will cover the club's long-term debts - about £80m - but it remains to be seen whether Rafael Benítez will benefit in the January transfer market. http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,1963261,00.html
  3. Rafael Benitez admitted his joy at seeing Liverpool beat PSV Eindhoven and top Group C was tempered by the injury problems that saw Xabi Alonso, Mark Gonzalez and Jermaine Pennant all forced to leave the field. Out of the three players Gonzalez is the most serious with a torn hamstring. "We are really pleased with the victory and it is good for the supporters and the club but unfortunately we have some injuries with Mark Gonzalez the more serious," commented Benitez. "Gonzalez will be out for at least two weeks with his hamstring which is a blow for us. Xabi has a dead leg and Pennant has spasms in his hamstring so we will have to see how he is. "When you lose two players in the first half it makes it more difficult and we had Bolo Zenden and Luis Garcia who wasn't 100 per cent fit. "Gerrard played well and it was good for us to see him running forward and scoring goals."

  11. Kuyt prefers Newcastle United By Jan Hattinga - August 13 2006 Feyenoord striker Dirk Kuyt thinks he will end up at Liverpool instead of his prefered destination Newcastle United. Kuyt would love to replace Geordie legend Alan Shearer at Newcastle but it seems unlikely that the Magpies will match Feyenoord's asking price. Kuyt told me last week that he desperately wants to sign for Newcastle United. "I've always wanted to be a hero, I have that status now at Feyenoord and I want to achieve that at my next club too. I know quite a bit about Newcastle, they're one of the best supported teams in the Premier League and they're a typical English club. It would be a dream to play for them." The striker is unsure whether he will be a Toon hero next season, though. "I know Feyenoord are asking a massive fee and I don't know if Newcastle are willing to match that." Liverpool are more likely to take the gamble and pay Feyenoord's asking price of around £10 million. "I would consider a move to Liverpool, they're likely to progress to the Champions League group stages, I would love to play in that competition but my first choice is Newcastle." http://www.sportnetwork.net/main/s342/st102261.htm?fromrss=1
  12. UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 3rd Qualifying Round 1st Leg WEDNESDAY 9 AUGUST Liverpool v Maccabi Haifa - 8pm Live on ITV1 http://www.itv-football.co.uk
  13. Yes it will Contrary to reports this morning, Liverpoolfc.tv can confirm that this weekend's friendly against Kaiserslautern is definitely ON. The game will take place in Liechtenstein on Saturday afternoon when Jermaine Pennant could get his first run-out in a Liverpool shirt. There were some reports earlier today that the game had been called off, but this is not the case and the match will go ahead as planned at 4.30pm UK time at the Eschen-Mauren Sports Stadium.
  14. Liverpool trialist Lazaros Christodoulopoulos is set to sign a three-year contract, according to Greek sources. We revealed on Monday that Christodoulopoulos was on trial at Anfield, but he has obviously wasted little time in impressing. Greek reports now claim that Christodoupoulos has agreed a three-year contract with The Reds and he has already passed a medical. Christodoupoulos was spotted by Liverpool's new chief scout Eduardo Macia playing for PAOK Salonika and coach Rafa Benitez has obviously been sufficiently impressed by the 20-year-old. Christodoupoulos has a get-out clause of just over £130,000 so Liverpool have no doubt decided that the risk in taking on the young striker for such a nominal fee is not a big one. http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?HLID=40...rss&clid=14 That is all we have got to go on so far!
  15. Skysports.com can reveal Charlton are closing in on the signature of Liverpool's Djimi Traore. The Addicks are keen to sign the tall Frenchman after Liverpool indicated they would be willing to let him move on. The arrival of Fabio Aurelio at Anfield has increased competition for places and Liverpool are ready to trim their squad. Bolton expressed an interest in signing Traore, but Charlton have jumped to the head of the queue to sign the versatile defender. The player's agent Willie McKay revealed talks over a move to The Valley are at an advanced stage. "Djimi is close to a move to Charlton," McKay told skysports.com "It is a loan move with the option of a permanent deal. "I have had talks with Iain Dowie and [Charlton chief executive] Andrew Mills about Djimi. "Iain is very keen to sign Djimi and we are hopeful that it can be pushed through this week so that he can make his debut against Valencia this weekend. "I am just waiting to hear back from Rick Parry at Liverpool before the move can happen." Dowie has seemingly turned his attention to Traore after failing to land Fulham-bound Middlesbrough defender Franck Queudrue. http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=40...close+on+Traore

    Alves

Sevilla star Daniel Alves is still hoping to secure a move to Liverpool despite the deal stalling. Liverpool have been chasing the Brazilian for some time, but have been frustrated in their attempts to lure him to Anfield. Alves has been one of Rafa Benitez's top targets all summer as he looks to bring in a new right-sided player. Liverpool have already seen two bids rejected for Alves with Sevilla determined to keep hold of the versatile performer. Sevilla are reportedly holding out for around £10 million and Liverpool are unwilling to go that high for Alves. A number of other clubs are waiting in the wings to sign Alves, but the player's agent Jose Rodriguez Baster insists Alves has his heart set on a move to Liverpool. "It is true that at the moment there are difficulties with the deal," Baster told skysports.com. "There is an economic difference between what Sevilla are demanding and what Liverpool are willing to pay. "We need to try and reach a compromise and we will try to do this in the next few days. "Liverpool is Daniel's first option and he wants to play with them despite interest from other clubs. "He wants to play in England and that is the most important thing. "We are trying to make the operation happen." From sky sports.com
