Dont know if this has ben put up, but Balleque said the same thing. CONFUSION SURROUNDS ALONSO MOVE There is some confusion over whether Xabi Alonso has actually handed in a transfer request at Liverpool. The usually reliable Liverpool Echo reported yesterday morning that Alonso had given the club a written transfer request, something that sources at Anfield confirmed to the Press Association yesterday afternoon. All that apparently remained was for Real Madrid to come up with around £28million and the deal would be complete, but reports this morning suggest it might not be quite as clear cut. The Times, a paper that has been convinced of Alonso's departure all summer, reports that the midfielder has not formally requested a move. The paper reports: 'Sources at Liverpool said that Alonso submitted a transfer request on Wednesday evening in an effort to hasten a move to Real, but the suggestions were dismissed by Alonso's representatives, who insisted that the player had taken no such action.' The Times also claims that a 48-hour deadline put in place by Rafa Benitez has expired, while The Guardian reports that Liverpool are holding out for over £30million for the player. The Sun is rather more certain that a deal will be done, predicting that Alonso's move could be wrapped up as early as Monday. There has been no official confirmation from either party on whether a transfer request has been submitted. If Alonso does leave Anfield, Lee Cattermole, Athletic Bilbao's Javi Martinez and Alberto Aquilani have all been mentioned in the press as potential replacements. Meanwhile, Alvaro Arbeloa, who completed his own move to Real on Thursday, is quoted in The Sun as saying: "I hope Xabi joins because he is a good player and a good friend."

Just Fook Off Madrid, you`ve fleeced us twice before not again. Go on do one.
-
If where going to sell Alonso, we need it sorted ASAP, so we can get a replacement or two. Where we not linked with Javi Martinez who is regarded as one of the best prospects in Spain. They want around £10-£12 mill then get Silva with the money we get, would lighten the blow a bit, but hope we keep him.
-
Maybe he`s not going as Rafa said no more big signings, unless he has other options
-
Aint had season tickets that long, ALERT ALERT another load of bo**ocks
-
I wonder if more than 1 ticket will be available like there was with the PTS, ie we travelled & sat together at games? That is 3 PTS members useing the friends & family purchase.

Do know if this has been put up. http://www.setanta.com//uk/Articles/Footba...ure/gnid-57717/ Amid the constant uncertainty surrounding his future at Liverpool, Xabi Alonso has stated he does not want to leave the club. Alonso has been linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer as his place in Rafa Benitez’s squad continues to lack an assuredness. However, Spain international Alonso has said that while he admits he does not know how the off-season transfer market will pan out, he fully intends to remain at Anfield and revel in his status as a senior player. “I am happy at Liverpool but in football you cannot close the doors on anything because you don't know what will happen. I do not plan to go,” Alonso told El Pais. “With Sami Hyypia already gone, I am one of the senior players alongside Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard. “There was strong interest in me from Madrid (in 2004) but Liverpool came and that is where I went. It was not a wrong decision, not for me anyway. I have played at Liverpool, a special club, and grown as a player and won titles.” Rumours of an uneasy relationship between Alonso and Benitez – who was prepared to sell the midfielder last summer – are not true, says the 27-year-old. “Each one has his own point of view. He is the manager and I try to do the best with what he tells me,” said Alonso. “We have a good professional relationship. We speak normally, saying what he wants from me and what I can give. He makes the decisions and we try to execute them. “Last summer there was certain indecision and I did not know what was going to happen. I finished up playing well, though. I have had two quite complete seasons.”

Why would he leave, after making these comments Yesterday Javier Mascherano believes Liverpool can win the league next season - but only if they improve their record against less fancied clubs. The Reds beat Manchester United and Chelsea home and away this term but came undone at Anfield against the likes of Stoke, Fulham and Hull. In the end Liverpool fell just short of their first league title since 1990 - but Mascherano believes they are in good shape for 2009-10. "It has been a very good experience," the 24-year-old told LFC Magazine. "Of course, it would have been much better for us to win the title, but it is good for us to know what it takes to try and win the league. "We have drawn a lot of games at home against some of the clubs outside the top four, and we know this is an area we must improve next season. "This season has been a bit strange. We have done really well against all the top teams but have sometimes struggled to beat the others. "You win the league when you beat all the teams, the bigger ones and the smaller ones. "But this season we went to Stamford Bridge, the Bernabeu and Old Trafford and won. This is very positive for the future. "This team is now showing we can win anywhere, but we need to get the balance right for next season."
