I have actually been thinking about the prospect of them buying the club, building the team, stadium, profile over the next 5-10 years. Eventually being very profitable and then floating it. I'm not savvy enough for this but is this a way they could get money back for initial capital whilst retaining a large share?
  3. Absolutely spot on. In the mean time he will probably make a CL final 2 out of 3 years. But f*** it, he had a poor year in the league, lets get rid and start again.
  4. 05-06 he set a LFC record for league wins in a row (11) and unbeaten record as well IIRC. You should support Newcastle, Ant. You'd fit right in.
  5. That's true. Rafa's had a poor year so far in the league but I am not prepared to blame him entirely for that considering the injuries to key players and others, in particular our defense. There's been other factors aswell that make it hard to judge Rafa this year. However he is IMO the best manager in the world when it comes to cups, inparticular the Champion's league and that is something I will not gloss over. I love the fact we are now seen as among the best in the CL, and if our manager can create that image it is only time that stops him from doing the same in the PL. Back him and he will deliver.
  6. It pays to look at the big picture.
  7. Spot on. Rafa is here to build a dynasty. RAFALUTION you might say. In other words, long term success that is sustainable without having to commit big funds every year. When I look at our competitors I see 2 clubs who appointed managers they believed in and backed all the way and have reaped the rewards. And Chelsea, no more needs to be said there. I look at other clubs like Everton, Bolton, Blackburn etc who back their managers and do well also. Do we back Rafa or become Newcastle because like it or not that to me is where we are heading. Sorry if this upsets anyone.
  8. That's a very good post. Simple and short but says so much.
  9. Damn right. We have missed Agger big time and Alonso. Xabi needs to be reintroduced if we want to hit top form, IMO.
  10. So straight off, he is saying if Rafa wins 'Big Ears' again this year he must go, still. Sorry, I do not agree.
  11. best bit of Ref work i have seen for a while. If he wasn't sure it would of been easy for him to let it go and he would not of copped much, but he called it, fair play to him, deserves plaudits.
  12. Wonderful player to watch and an exceptional buy from Rafa. 20M GBP is a bargain by the looks of it.
  13. Very good save. The shot was goal bound, definately.
  14. I am sorry to quote all that but I had to. This sums up exactly how I feel and even from Australia I haved sensed from very early on this season that the supporter base had ridiculously high expectations. It's always the league or bust FFS. Why not instill a world class young manager with a vision and back him to see it through. If along the way to number 19 he picks up silverware, then great. And he does. If he completes his team we will be competing for the league I have no doubt. The beauty of it though is that we will be so much better in Europe. We will be a force again.
  15. your damn right there is. If we get a bad result tonight they will all go in at once like there is no tomorrow. Starting to feel like an Instanbul run actually. IIRC we played Beyer Lev at home first and won 3-1. The media played on the "away" goal and how we were vulnerable?? So we beat them 3-1 away. I want Real Madrid in the next round. Bring it on!
  16. I think the effect on Rafa, personally and professionally, by losing Pako cannot be underestimated. On top of that the effect it has had on communication between Rafa and the players as well.
  17. True, but Moyes has to finish 4th first, then stay there. Then he also has to be able to compete for other trophies, inparticular the CL. Rafa is struggling to mount a title challenge but he did well in 05/06, since then it has become apparant to our league rivals that by parking the bus we struggle. If we add the quality required to break teams down early and get a lead we would become a different team. IMO, given one more season and adequate funding I would back Rafa to sort this and a title challenge would follow.

  19. If only it was that simple.
  20. As someone who has watched Harry all his career I agree. He is ineffective on the wing now but could be awesome with Torres. He is a good player in the hole and Torres would be the perfoect foil.
  21. Turnover. Expect Arsenal's to actually round out to 200M pounds annually once they have 12 month figures under the new stadium.
  22. Don't worry about Chelsea. For one it is probably inflated and two they make massive losses every year. If Roman left they would be playing Leeds reserves in 2 years in grade Z22. Arsenal are the ones that will be making the most money. They only have debt on their stadium and they have the most prudent manager. Manu are making s*** loads but they needs s***loads for the Glazers to pay for the club for them. We play in the next level but are expected to beat this lot !!!???? That's why we rarely get our first choice. We need players to pick us like Torres did. Why because of Rafa and his dream. But hey f*** it, sack Rafa and start again.
