Amongst all this talk of needing a World-class striker...
Mikey replied to Lee W 's topic in Liverpool FC
World class before he went to Madrid. Am I right in thinking this knee injury is the only one he's had since? Not saying its trivial but he was operated on by Steadman, who has also been overseeing most of his rehab work as well, if anyone is going to come back from it at least as good as before then it will be him. Let me say it again before anyone else posts 'let him rot' - 'not good enough for us' etc. World class, genuine, proven, big game playing, should be a living legend on here, World class. He looks better now than 18 months ago through not playing, and all the mediocrity thats tried to fill his boots failing miserably! FFS, who do we think we are going to be signing? -
Read a paper in starbucks yesterday, Express or something I think, and Hicks was 'quoted' as saying that Rafa would have a 'large number' available for transfers this Summer but wouldn't specify exactly how much obviously. On these grounds I want Alves Quaresma Eto'o
-
It might have been, as they were talking about a deal between 2 Spanish clubs I assumed it was Euro's.
-
Just said on TV that Barca have 1st option but they are not too happy with the price, Real Madrid want both him and Navas, Chelsea have enquired. Right at the very end he said "and maybe Liverpool will be interested". I know, he's full of ****!
-
Hopefully! I'm English but all I do when we play is hope our lads don't get injured.
-
I think so as well, I'm just interested in the opinion of people who say that £25M wouldn't be enough for Alonso, and whether they would baulk at the idea of paying £25M for players like Iniesta, Deco, Poulsen(sp?) etc to replace him. I'm firmly in the camp that thinks that most of our supporters vastly over inflate the supposed transfer values of our players, someone on here had FSP as '£5M' and JAR down as '£8M' FFS!
-
Just out of interest, which CM would we spend the money on to replace him, everyone apart from Me and Scot seem to think he's worth £25M+, so who would you be willing to buy for £25M?
-
I feel the same, I have said before that I find it hard to believe that Mascherano has been signed as just a squad player, he's more mobile than Xabi, not as good a long passer but at least as good at keeping the ball and passing over 25 - 30 yards. Been a great player for us but for an offer £16M I expect him to go.
-
You'll be unhappy then, we'll get nowhere near £25M+ for him. If Barca do offer £16M for him part of the reason will be because he's Spanish, Utd paid £18M for Carrick because he's English.

Americans to Borrow £298 million to buy Liverpool
Mikey replied to liverbird04's topic in Liverpool FC
See, I dunno if you're joining in the general p1sstake or being serious here? If its the former, I know he's not too popular but i like him as a player! If its the latter, £16M is way too much for him. -
What isn't actually permitted, charging away fans more than we currently do?
-
Firstly I suggested upping the prices for more away fans as a suggestion to those saying we wouldn't fill a 70,000 seater stadium at first, no-one mentioned locking any Liverpool fans out until you brought it up. Secondly, I rate Bridge, he's the 2nd best English LB there is and one of the best 2 or 3 in the PL currently, in my humble opinion of course, and he's far better at LB than JAR is or ever will be. In the same thread of course you said that my valuation of Alves at £15 -20M was at least £10M too low, Figaro subsequently posted he is available for ?22M in the summer, around £16M and I didn't see you say F*** all to him about it. There's only one internet warrior looking a total beaut mate and as per usual its you.
-
Well maybe every club wants their own fans and not the 'knobheads' to quote you.
-
Regarding the extra 10,000 seats(hopefully) and the prospect of filling them, it would also mean that we could allow more away fans in and sting them for the privelege of coming to anfield like we are currently when we play away. Say for the bigger teams, Manu, Newcastle, Arsenal, Chelsea, Blues**** etc £40 -£50 per ticket for 6 -7,000 away fans adds up to quite a bit of money! Also, the only games I can take My Son to are on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday and as such I am seen on here begging for tickets a couple of times a year. I would realistically up that number to at least 10 home games per year, which might not seem a lot to most of you but to us would be bloody brilliant, I could also make long term staffing plans for those nights confident that I would be able to get tickets, unlike now when on occasion I have been faced with either going to a game or shutting our pub/restaurant. Selfish of me I know.

I knew it would go down well but I really rate him and he could be available. If we don't go for a new LB we will have Riise, rubbish for ages at LB regardless of what part he played in our record setting defence of last year. Aurelio, good player but made of glass. Insua, anyone actually seen him against anybody good to comment? Arbeloa(sp?), RB/CB played specifically to combat Messi - which he did very well. I think Bridge is a significant improvement on anybody I've seen play for us this season mate! (Ducks for cover) -

Don't see what the fuss is about to be honest, if we need money for certain players then its obvious that its going to be there. How are we going to fill our new, expensive stadium if we're only a 4th or 5th placed side evry season? Personally I don't think it's going to take the reported amounts either, we will receive around £20M for Cisse and Crouch, add that to the £25-£30M we would have anyway with the new TV money in place and this years CL run and we're looking at spending over £50M this summer. More than enough to buy the 2 or 3 players needed. Bridge - £10M Alves - £15 -20M Torres - £20M -

Right, Chef/Landlord here so please be nice. If the cost of buying the shares was £140M ish, whats the rest of the money for? -
15M? 50 feet from the side of the pitch I just cannot believe.
-
If its a proper tear then 6 weeks is extremely optimistic, and if he's back for the 2nd leg I look forward to Bellamy pulling him to bits as he did to Vidic.
-
Come on then, name another for this Summer!
-
Which surely means that Charlton were legally bound to let him talk to West Ham and could not refuse the offer? I think you'll find most 'release clauses' are rubbish, what club would allow their better players to determine their transfer worth in advance and include a clause which made them powerless to keep them?
-
If you take everything into account as you said then 1) - Chelsea are ridiculous 2) - Charlton should have accepted WH's bid as he aint worth £18M.
