It seems like we may have briefed Sky that we’re ‘unlikely to pursue’ a summer move for Werner, ‘as things stand’. I presume this is to avoid discouraging another potential target - if the briefing did come from us.

FWIW a few reports from more mainstream media that we’re preparing a bid for Kai Havertz. Figure being suggested is £107m. His form this season wouldn’t support that size a bid, I suspect he may go for a little less circa €100m.

I don’t really buy into the whole ‘Liverpool won’t spend big on another attacker’ line that seems to be pushed by a few of the transfer focused commentators etc. We’re definitely scoping out the possibility of a deal for Sancho, we’re been strongly and regularly linked with Dembele from Barcelona over the last couple of years, same with Werner. Add in that we were apparently saving our pennies last summer so we could go for a big target this coming year and that we’re also apparently focused on signing ‘game changers’, you’d have to wonder if we’re not after an elite attacker then exactly who could we be after?
