  1. SAF is available although I don't think he fits FSG's profile of a younger manager You're right - they have no minds of their own
  2. Does the rolleyes mean it's a joke? Pepe will surely be charged and at least fined for that.
  3. I think you're missing the point, Fletch. The FA are allowed to, indeed almost required to, take a player's previous disciplinary record into account in determining the appropriate penalty. Also, and this may not be something they were explicitly allowed to take into consideration, the remainder of this season is meaningless for Liverpool. It is the six games at the start of next season that hurt and the FA is well aware of that.
  4. How do Everton keep finishing above us?
  5. Some of the weaknesses you state are directly attributable to Rodgers so it sort of defeats DH's point. But on the Spurs comparison, we have the best striker in the league whereas their strikers have scored something like 1 goal combined in the league this calendar year.
  6. How on earth are the Tottenham and Arsenal squads better than ours?
  7. Yeah, right. It's a damn site easier to finish top 4 with the current Arsenal squad than this Liverpool squad. It's a damn site easier to finish top 5 with the current Tottenham squad than this Liverpool squad. It's a damn site easier to finish top 6 with the current Everton squad than this Liverpool squad. No debate.
  8. If Chelsea turn over City on Sunday then I think Rafa will be managing in Manchester next season (assuming they don't screw up in the final of course). The stakes could not be higher for the two managers.
  9. Leo says we're one of the form teams in the league. You say our league performance is criminal. I say the reality is somewhere in between. Given our capitulation in the cups (which is cause for concern in itself) and the fact the league is all we have had to concentrate on I would say our performance has been underwhelming - but with hints and glimmers of promise. Another season for me.
  10. Don't fully agree with that. I had a huge soft spot for Roy Evans. I was singing "Are you Shankly in disguise?" to Ged in the 1999-2000 season. And I would have gladly carried the Rafatollah all around Cardiff in 2005. I don't know why but I just feel wary about Brendan both in terms of his genuine love for the club and his ability to get us back to where we were 3-4 years ago.
  11. And Rafa, through no fault of his own, hasn't had a Lucas-type player or a forward who knows how to stick the ball in the net. A bit of a handicap, that. Imagine where we'd be without Lucas or Suarez ... And to be honest they've been playing some brilliant football recently despite that.
  12. With all due respect I think that's as ridiculous as deathscar's perspective
  13. It's a two-way street - there has to be something about the man that indicates he "gets" us in a unique way. I haven't given up hope that Rodgers will develop that type of relationship with our fans. He says all the right things - but at this point in time I am not sure how much is contrived and how much is genuine. Consider this, for example - we go on a run over our last 8 games, including a 4-0 thrashing of Chelsea at Anfield but unluckily finish just outside the top 4 (or 5). Abramovich offers Rodgers the Chelsea job - would he take it? I honestly don't know.
  14. Barring us losing 6 out of our last 8 BR is not getting the boot - so there's no point asking the question, really

  16. Well, that was a truly dismal performance by Chelsea. Starting with Benayoun and Torres is like shooting yourself in the foot before a race. Selling those two and getting money for them is probably the best business we have done in the past three years (apart from signing Suarez).

    Coutinho

    You'd better get your coat-inho
  18. Fowler: Rafa Benitez's rant was brilliant! http://www.talksport.co.uk/radio/weekend-sports-breakfast/130302/fowler-rafa-benitezs-rant-was-brilliant-192785 starting at 6:15 Talksport: Robbie got to mention Rafa - you know him well. What do you make of the rant during the week and his tenure at Chelsea? Robbie: Well, I thought the rant was brilliant to be honest. It's about time some managers started coming out with stuff like that. ... But Rafa's come in and really the fans should get behind the team and Rafa's right in what he's saying - the banners won't affect me but it might have a little bit of a hindrance in the way the team's playing.
