Match Topic Liverpool vs Arsenal - Premier League, 31st August @ 4.30pm

Love Schokoladen. Cracking little venue. @kop205 let me get back to you, mate. Should be getting some sleep before an early shift but the Guehi/Isak hullabaloo has kept me up past my bedtime. In the meantime, if you let me know what sort of places, foods etc you’re into, I’ll have a think. Can’t help you with the techno clubs though, not my scene. -
Must be so excited to play for a club that appreciates a good No9.

It's next to Mauerpark, border of Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg, yeah. Not the most "Berlin" of neighbourhoods, for sure, but it's a good place to watch LFC, as the local LFC fan group watches there (they used to have viewings in the basement of the neighbourhood's other football bar, FC Magnet). Multiple screens, mix of PL and BL. The Berlin River Plate fan club even has the derbies with Boca put on there and it gets chock with Argentinians (my best mate here is a big River fan). -
He is a fantastic player and a great servant, but unfortunately has only played more than 30 PL games in one of his 10 completed seasons with us (2023-24), more than 20 PL games in four. In five of those 10 seasons, he played fewer than 10 PL games.

Have Arsenal sold anyone? Mad how bad they are at that.
-
Think this is what lay at the heart of trying to sign Guehi in the first place. For years we've had up to three of four CB options who are injury-prone. Getting Guehi in for Gomez would have offered us a lot more security over the course of a season, assuming Leoni doesn't turn out to be a crock.
-
Think if the Igor thing hadn't broken down, we might have let him fly to Milan. Not sure on the timelines though, so might be wrong on which came first – the Igor deal collapsing or Milan pulling the plug on the Gomez move. But we might still have at least considered the PL offers if we thought Palace were getting their replacement in. Poor Joe. That's two summers in a row we've agreed to sell him only for it to fall through because another deal collapsed.
-
Really don't think this is the case.
-
If all this has shown anything, it's that he's been trying to strike a balance between his ambition and his sense of loyalty and duty. Assuming we're still interested in January, it would be weird of him in that context to go from sitting in LFC trackies August to deciding he might prefer a return to Chelsea in January.

Defo. Think he gets a lot more minutes now unless Gomez has one of his rare non-injury-curtailed seasons.

He defo seems the sort to have at least a lurker account that exclusively follows Arsenal fan media, Ted Talk and "daily inspirational quote" accounts. -
Yeremy Pino from Villarreal

I reckon so too. Parish’s comments over the course of the summer, “we can’t just let him go for free” etc, show he wanted to sell the player, knowing Guehi wouldn’t sign a new deal. But every time Glasner was asked about it he seemed to be insisting he wouldn’t let him leave. Guess it all came to a head today.
-
Honestly think money wasn’t the issue here, judging by Glasner’s comments at the weekend. He’s complaining that Palace had all summer to find a replacement and didn’t. We couldn’t affect that.
-
And for a much lower fee. We’re fine as long as Konate and Gomez can stay fit. Big if but nothing more to be done now.
-
That’s gonna be fun. That said, I reckon he might have a release clause next summer or something. No inside knowledge, just the fact Olise and Eze had similar after being bought from the Championship.

5min from my place, great bar for football. A shrine to Rudi “Aunt Cathy” Völler. On the game and Arsenal, what stuck out for me was the realisation that Arsenal have basically signed Madueke solely to win corners off the full-back, the sad Waitrose Stoke t***s. -
Think Glasner's complaint is that they haven't signed a PL-ready replacement for Guehi. This deal seems to have been in the works for a while but assume Glasner doesn't see him as a player who can step right in.

Was referring to shirt numbers
-
On the subject of line-ups, if Isak does inherit the No9 shirt, we would surely have the best 1-11 you could actually field as a functioning team: 1. Alisson 2. Gomez 5. Konate 4. VvD 6. Kerkez 8. Szoboszlai 3. Endo 10. Mac Allister 11. Salah 9. Isak 7. Wirtz
-
That would be my assumption, yeah.
-
I'm happy with them up until the point the Guehi deal collapses. Then it's pitchforks at dawn.
-
Glasner should just go to Leverkusen anyway. Would do well there.
-
Problem with the medical, eh? If he’s decided to go to West Ham, it might be a brain issue.

Last day of the window and clubs knew all along we wanted to sell and there was no club bidding early to push the price up by flushing out others. Leipzig didn't want to spend what we asked so Villa knew we'd be forced into something lower because there's no more time.
