Just to be clear, I drink a lot. A Lot.

Nothing too surprising in there. Revenues whilst largely unchanged are positive with increase commercial and non-UK revenue streams growing substantially. The matchday/performance related income falling was already known so the off field growth offsetting this is a big plus. Debt payments are now minimal. The intercompany loan isn't a concern as it is relatively small and currently non-interest bearing - its largely a tax efficient structuring tool to allow them to extract value efficiently once we become profitable. The stadium impairment is unbelievable. I can't get my head around a 50m impairment for something that hasn't even had foundations built. It absolutely stinks. My point is I don't think he's completely finished as a player provided you can find a way to deal with the psychological issues he appears to have. I doubt he'll ever be a good CF again, but he has attributes that could be used elsewhere. I think people forget how goood he was for us when he drifted wide and chipped balls into the box. It was a very strong part of his game.

As owners its prudent to keep debt at club level, be it bank or shareholder loan as there is a tax break on interest but not on dividends.

Not ours for certain since we haven't had a really good winger since McManaman. Off the top of my head, he would have the potential to be an Arjen Robben type.

I just think he will be a much better player for the next club he goes to. Clearly he isn't mentally the strongest player, but I don't think that physically he is much worse than when he was with us and if you can take the pressure off him (i.e. huge transfer fee, leading the line etc) I think its worth a punt. Given some of the 10m punts we've made on players, Torres would be far from the worst. Since its never going to happen I can't be proved wrong anyway, so I must be right.

Can he run quickly? Does he work the offside trap well? Can he pass? Can he cross well? If he had the qualities of a sumo wrestler, then that might be a fair statement, but he has the right attributes for a winger and in that role you wouldn't be concerned about his bottling in front of goal. Taking the pressure off him as the central striker may well sort out his general hiding from the ball.

If it was to replace a striker I'd agree entirely. But as a winger you're not relying on him for goals. He's still pretty fast and can put in a cross/find a man and given some of the players we've spent 10m+ on, he'd offer a lot imo.

Certainly up to 10m I'd be in for him. With Sturridge and Suarez leading the line and Torres on the wing you have pace and goals across the front line, an amazing counterattack and balls in from the wing. I think in that sort of role it would take the pressure off Torres and he might start to chip in a few goals as well so he could also be used as striker backup until his form improves.

He used to be the best crosser in our team. I'd take him back and play him on the wing (for buttons obviously).
