Concise, to the point and more importantly, 100% correct.

Except he hardly said any of that did he ? His words on Momo were that Benitez would be loathe to let him go - and even if he did it would be for a lot more than 12m. He said Xabi was attracting interest from Barca, which Rafa pretty much acknowledged. He said the same of Sami, which may or may not have been true, and he mentioned Crouch at the turn of the year when it was clear that Rafa thought he wasnt pulling his weight.... Still, if Bascombe writes anything positive everyones made up - if he writes anything negative, he knows f*** all. Barmy.
-
Is right. Bascombe is a good red - always has been. People on here just to believe what they want to believe.

No. Just please, no. He's "half decent", no more, no less. I thought we did the whole 'Norwegian' thing to death in the 90s anyway ?
-
Erm, sorry, is this supposed to be some sort of joke ? Chris Perry who played for Wimbledon, Tottenham and now West Brom ?? Apologies if it is a joke and its just gone way over my head....

Difficult one this, but I think I'd tend to agree with that. Alonso is the barometer of the team - he sets the tempo and also just keeps things ticking over, intelligently moving the ball about the pitch. From what I've seen, I like the look of both Mascherano and Alonso playing in the middle, with Gerrard playing just ahead of them - but you need the wings to firing on all cylinders for that to work. I also reckon that Alonso will want to leave this summer...
-
Horses for courses though Fred isnt it ? I'm sure there'll be times when we need Mascherano or Sissoko - or even both in the middle, more than we need Xabi. Last game of the season, aainst a relegated Charlton side though, is not one of those times....
-
I dont blame him for saying all that - he's got to hasnt he ? He needs to laud Milans performance against them as much as he can, to mask the fact that he and his team made t***s out of themselves (again) when up against strong, tactically solid opponents in Europe. Otherwise, he'd have to admit his own defficiencies(sp) when up against the top tier of coaches on the continent.

http://football.guardian.co.uk/breakingnew...6608208,00.html Benitez also answered criticism by departing academy coach Steve Heighway, who is angry that the Spaniard is taking more control of the club's youth policy. Benitez began his coaching career working with the youth team at Real Madrid. "I was working for 10 years with Real Madrid and we had 40 players go on to play Premier League football in Spain, so I have some experience," he said.
-
Is right. Thing is, it's a nice little job Academy director isnt it ? If no-one comes through, you blame it on the raw materials - the players. First team managers dont have that luxury though. Heighway has a rose tinted view of things.... and he's pissed a lot of people off over the last few years. This thing about them being "my boys", doesnt really wash. I've known a few people who he's "promised" things to and then pissed off abroad in order to let the Club do his dirty work for him, and thats happened a bit too much to be a coincidence.....
-
Is right. The Chelsea midfield (I'm thinking Ballack in particular) are s*** scared of Momo. He is suffering a dip in form, but anyone criticising Momo needs to remember his performance in the Nou Camp - immense.

Grobbelaar says rotating Rafa is a "disgrace"

Yes you can, cheers. -

Grobbelaar is a t** - and one of the luckiest players ever to wear the red shirt. I reckon we'd have won at least one more European Cup if it wasnt for some of his early "performances". -
No, not a whipping boy at all - just my opinion on the goal last night. If you look at it again, That Albino t** has already left him for dead when he slips... Wasnt saying he was lazy in general, just that he'd switched off for the goal. Full marks for your condescending tone though.
-
I just thought both Bellamy and Kuyt had ran themselves almost to a standstill - Kuyt in particular. Thats b******s mate. If Pennant had tracked the runner - there is no goal, he was just lazy.
-
Michael Carrick is Danny Murphy - with time and space on the ball, an excellent player, in a congested midfield with competent opponents, a luxury you cant afford. 18m for him.....
-
Fyds, Theyve briefed the press for ages that this would go through, and that they werent interested in Gilletts bid - "Doesnt matter about the money, its for the good of the Club" etc etc etc Then, 500 quid per share more is offered and its "well actually, we're not convinced about DIC". Hence, DIC f*** off. Thats why we appear to be a laughing stock.

Yep, think thats more or less spot on.

One of his biggest strengths. Personally I think we'd only gain from swapping Ayala for Sami, he's nowhere near as slow as the big man - and he's just an all round better defender I think. I'd agree about Woodgate as well though.
-
Roberto Ayala, in my opinion, is still one of the best defenders in Europe. Although not lightning quick anymore, he is still no slouch. He's mustard in the air, strong and very tactically aware. Despite some injuries, he's looked after himself really well and remains in really good condition. Best defender I've ever seen play at Anfield. If he is available on a free, we should be in there lika a shot
