  1. Absolutely spot on.
  2. Fair enough Jim Dont disagree that we should buy someone for the right, but with the possibilities we have in midfield I dont think its such a pressing concern anymore - and maybe we should hold out for someone who will greatly improve the side, rather than just get someone so that Gerrard doesnt have to play there.
  3. Yeah, but if the midfield is Xabi and Momo in the middle, Gerrard on the right, why would we put someone like Pennant in there and drop one of those three ? Doesnt make sense to me. Pennant is not as good as what we already have.
  4. Obviously I havent seen him week in week out, but I've seen enough of him to think that he wouldnt be a better option than having Gerrard on the right. He's just a "decent" Premiership player for me. and the price you quote there is way over the top.
  5. I dont see Pennant as any more than average. Cant understand the 'clamour' for him.
  6. The thing about all this though, is that he's a bell-end for doing it. Not for 'incitement' or anything so sanctimonious, but for the fact that it gave their crowd a reason to get their collective backs up, when to all intents and purposes the game was over. It was great the way we had silenced the crowd yesterday, then g******* comes along and just makes things harder than they should have been. Unprofessional. And did anyone see that chance when Kewell was completely free in the middle ? Jesus.
  7. No, it's not just you. I think Owen is ten times the player Defoe ever will be.
  8. Got to agree with you here Lee. I remember Fowler when he first got into the side as a skinny 17 year old and for the next 2 years, it seemed as though there wasnt much he couldnt do with the ball. OK he wasnt lightning fast, but he could dribble past players, score any kind of goal you could care to name, wasnt brilliant in the air, but if a decent cross came in I'd have backed him to get to it before anyone. Had everything.
  9. You still think those two (Kewell & Garcia) will be here next season then ?
  10. All this "if Cisse is given a run up front he will score" is b******s. Think back to Old Trafford a couple of months ago - he got played up front then and stunk the house out - one of (if not the) worst performances I have ever seen from a Liverpool player. I dont think Crouch is doing enough at present, I dont think Morientes is good enough and I dont think Fowler is the answer. None of the above 3 players though, are capable of the type of performance that Cisse put in against United that day - it was on a par with anything Sean Dundee or Paul Stewart ever came up with. Out of the four strikers we have currently available, he is, by a long chalk, the worst.

    Momo

    Good post. Spot on.
  12. Can someone please tell me iff tonight is all ticket/are there any tickets left ?? Ta.
  13. If Djimi Traore is the best left back at this club then Left is the position we need to strengthen above all others. I cant see the point of this. Yes Warnock had a 'mare yesterday, yes Riise is not a great left back, but they did nothing yesterday that Traore was not capable of doing himself. If you see what I mean. Warnock positional sense is woeful - as is Traore Warnock is not good in the air - neither is Traore Warnocks distribution is poor - Traores is woeful. Yes Traore has a bit of pace - but this is negated by a) poor positioning and b) constant mistakes. As it stands, Riise is the best option at the Club. But that says more about the Club than Riise. Bizarre ynwa.tv lore No. 15661 - Traore is actually a decent defender. Jeez....
  14. Great read that. One of our greatest ever footballers. Always tells it like it is as well. Interesting about Piechnik - I just thought he was s****.
  15. You cant use`the Anthony Walker thing as stick to beat Barton with - that's pretty low.
  16. I'd say he was better than Thompson to be honest. Not saying we should go for him or anything but I think he's been great for City this year, I wouldnt be too displeased if we got him. Wasnt he on the TV a couple of weeks ago though, saying he only wants to play for Man City ?? Reckon he's a poor mans Gerrard though.

    Free Fowler

I think thats about as good as it gets. I really cant see the point in this. It pains me that a lot of people on here would rather have Fowler back now than Owen. Fowler was a very good player for us - he will never be that player again. If he came back it would be some kind of circus, he's not going to score a lot of goals, he's not even going to get on the pitch that much, he's not going to do any 'line sniffing' celebrations, he's not going to t*** Le Saux (if only). Why should we bring a player in who may give us 15 to 20 mins every fortnight ? Team spirit ? I dont know if you've noticed, but we seem to be doing pretty well on that score. Under Rafa Benitez, I beleive Liverpool Football Club is on the verge of something great. Robbie Fowler belongs to the past.

    Free Fowler

Great post (as usual), hits the nail on the head. It would be great story if he came back, but I just think it's in the realms of fantasy. Given his injuries, I dont think he'd cope with the work ethic in the team at the moment - much as he may try. I wasnt sorry when he left, but my position on this has mellowed over time. I think he got a bit of a raw deal - but then again he has to take some of the blame himself. We've moved on (upwards) since those days and unfortunately, Robert Bernard Fowler is now, and should only ever be, part of this clubs past.
  19. I thought that was possibly our worst performance since we've been on this little run of ours - just shows you a) how bad Everton are and b) how much we've improved that we could play like that and still win without really getting out of first gear. Last year I thought Rafa ballsed it up completely in this fixture, with the side he picked. This year I thought the side he picked was absolutely spot on. Oh and Cisse: I never thought he had that kind of finish in him !
