Fair enough but - Point 2: I think you're agreeing with me Gibbo tbh. Not investing the TV money and/or running us as a going concern to flip in a couple of years (my personal opinion if I'm honest) doesn't meant they don't want us to be successful. To say they don't want us to be successful is like saying they'd actively sabotage the changes of success. Inertia & procrastination are not sabotage. As for point 3: Yeah I get this and I understand Sponsors have needs.. but... surely sponsors would prefer to have their deal announced to the LFC supporting public at a time when said public aren't up in arms over the club?? Think of it this way, the poor bloke designated to wear that stupid donut and pose in the tunnel at Anfield has done nothing but generate derison and mockery from the fans. Hardly what the good folk at Dunkin Donuts would have wanted. but.. if he'd have done the photo-shoot the week after we went top of the league? The LFC twitterati would've been far more welcoming and the positive press for the brand would've followed suit. Instead you get 100,000 tweets about lampshades & donuts. and then the club go and top it all off with this awful #guardian campaign, dragging Shanks & Paisley into it, to announce a poxy training kit deal? The optics are all wrong. Not to mention that it boils most fans piss to see the club actively gloat over this type of deal whilst at the same time fail to back the manager on the pitch. Its terrible optics and, again, a competent CEO wold explain this to the sponsor and get them to change the announcement date.

Ok, sneering issue aside, you're off base here. 1. I'm one of FSG's biggest critics on here. But I certainly don't think they're idiots in the literal sense, I do think their current strategy is idiotic though and you can sneer all you like at that but our bench tomorrow night is exhibit A in the case for the prosecution 2. Along the same lines, who on here has said, even intimated, that they don't want success?? Seriously? of course they want success. That's just silly. The qs I (and many others) have for them is are they prepared to do whats required to make us successful? I (and many others) think not and finally.. 3. Trumpeting commercial deals in the middle of a transfer window in which you've failed to do a single thing to help the football team win matches.... now that's what I call pathetic.

The old Red Sox chestnut. I posted the numbers a whole ago in this thread but the notion that they've succeeded cos they've been thrifty with the Red Sox is horlicks. They've consistently had one of the biggest payrolls in baseball and invested heavily in this area particularly in the early years of their ownership. Whilst they've never had a payroll bigger than the Yankees, saying they've achieved in spite of this is akin to saying isn't it great that Chelsea are achieving despite the payroll at City.

I may be going out on a limb here but I'd safely assume 90% of the threads on here are full of opinions all/mostly based on conjecture. Doesn't change that fact that there's a very 'factual' reason for the angst in this thread - FSG are failing to produce this window. Surely you can't argue with that ?...

Yeah I'd say you're right there Leo.

What's been the corresponding change in the wage bill during his tenure?

It's pretty much where I'm at with them but I don't share your theory on Ayre. It's gone on too long now so it must be blind spot cos I thought he'd be gone long before now. I don't know when the switch in going to go off in JWH's head about the potential that exists within the club but the failures of our 'value' strategy and apparent failure to capitalise on our current position this window aligned to how smart I, like you, think he is, mean I can only come to the conclusion that they've decided to run us as a going concern as it's the only logical explanation for their tolerance of these failures. I said this 18 months so it's nothing new but it's becoming more and more apparent. These boys need to step aside and give someone else, who actually is prepared to invest in the club and take it seriously, take over. Soon cos it'll be too late after we lose our best players.

what's your take on FSG's 'post Comolli ' strategy RP?
-
If this shower let the window close with no significant reinforcements to the 1st team then I think our place in the 'money league' will be the least of our concerns.
-
I'll never tire of that pic! Wasn't it Fowler who originally tweeted it?! As much as Ayre irritates me, I'd still be kicking Fowler in the balls for that one if I were him!
-
And yet he signed off on the club buying a left sided center back as his main summer signing to replace the same Carragher.
-
Well I'm basing it entirely on the fact that he keeps picking him despite being fairly s*** most of the time.
-
I agree but Rodgers seems to have a hard-on for Skrtel.
-
Spot on. It's madness having that much depth in defence especially when you consider how this we are in midfield. Go balls out this window and we give ourselves a great shot at top 4
-
Illori might be yer man for that job. Personally I'd be selling one of Skrtel or Agger next summer or possibly both if we were to get someone like you describe.
-
Yeah Maldini. In fairness, you seem to have a good insight into whats going on at the Academy. Have you a 'source'?
-
Moses needs to understand that he's been given a major lifeline this summer as his career was going down the jax at Chelsea under Maureen. His next step is Sunderland. Still think he has a role in the squad as his pace 'should' be an asset to us but it doesn't include acting as a blockage to Alberto. I think they're completely different players to be honest. I think we should play a Xmas tree formation with Alberto & Coutinho behind Suarez. Lucas and Hendo holding with Gerrard floating further forward to support the 3 attackers.

he does write for the Daily Hail

IMO it can't be Rodgers cos he doesn't have the authority to do it. If you piece together the info dripping out of the club the past 12 months you get an idea as to the organisational structure of the place. Rodgers reports to Ayre. McParland the same. Just because one is better paid & more high profile doesn't elevate him above the other in the structure. This isn't Rafa's Liverpool where he sat atop the football tree. We had Commoli there but he was never replaced which leads me to believe that Ian Ayre is ultimately at the top of both the sporting & financial divisions at the club. (as bad as that may sound). I found this online (its; from TIA so I;d say its well sourced) So in conclusion I'd say the club can do what they want. I'm sure Rodgers was consulted (perhaps as a courtesy) but the decision would've been made by the board. EDIT: That article from Ian Herbert in the Independent suggests I'm talking out me backside. If it's right then we're seeing a major change in the structure of the club and reverting to the Rafa model (which is a HUGE turnaround if it turns out to be true)
-
Ah it can't be related to that. Sacked mid -season? There's either been a blazing row or these boys have f***ed up royally somewhere along the line And, to answer an earlier post, I think only Ian Ayre would have the authority to sanction sacking McParland. Not good on any level.
-
As has been oft stated by many 'FSG bashes' on this forum - when Henry gets involved s*** gets done. The problems seem to arise when he's either nit engaged or Ayre's been left to us own devices. I've no doubts we'd be in a far better place as an organisation if he just gave us his full attention for a couple of years.

He was 7 years old KAMF!! Jaysus I'd say his loyalties are right where they should be after over 10 years at the club!
