  1. Crouch blown offside for our goal kick Go figure!?!
  2. Still no team news? This is a slow thread at the moment.
  3. Strange thread They showed the LFC-Barca match in there, which pissed the Chelsea fans off. So the pub is good enough I guess.
  4. Damn typos! But maybe we're actually onto something here. We're signing an unknown Moroccan player Dani E. Ageer. IN YOUR FACES!!!! YES YES YES YES!
  5. We're signing Ageer? Oh, wait...
  6. I haven't met Kev, but my face is now covered with something I'm not comfortable with.
  7. We're signing Bobo Balde and (I presume) Martin O'Neill will be our manager.
  8. Now Van Nistelrooy would be a better signing Owen's style of play suits counter attacking and since he doesn't have the pace he once had anymore, I simply don't rate him that much. He is still a good player no doubt if he can get back from the injuries, but not a great one anymore in my opinion. I had the same opinion in his last year at LFC as well and nothing I've seen since has changed my mind for the better anyway. You do have a point and for instance Rooney is exactly the same when it comes to scoring in bursts. However, I think when Owen hit a bad run, he really missed sitter after sitter including penalties and at the same time didn't contribute much otherwise either.
  9. So I can't have an opinion of Owen as a player in 2007, as he hasn't played this year In that case, I don't think it's very wise to advocate us to be signing him either, if there can be no assessment about his capabilities as a player these days. Oh and f*** off you t*** an all
  10. Or he gets injured, comes back scores a hat-trick, then scores two in the next match, then doesn't score for 5 matches, scores 1, misses a penalty, gets injured etc... ad nauseaum.
  11. Plays for England, scores goals in the league, is small and quite pacy. Come to think of it, they might be the same person.
  12. True and they are based on Michael Owen's performances since then. What's the problem?
  13. I was surprised to be honest. I just don't rate Owen anywhere as high as many on here do. I haven't since about 2004, as he is such a predictable player without the burst of pace he once had. This notion that he is somehow meant to be good in the build-up play as well doesn't wash with me at all either. As a player in 2007, I'd say he's about on the same level as Andy Johnson. And that doesn't count in the fact that we don't know how he will come back from the latest serious injury.
  14. Once we've completed the signing of Owen, we can move on to the 2 main targets: Heskey and Litmanen. Hopefully by the end of the summer we'll have Ged back in charge and we can start discussing whether Robbie should be higher up in the picking order. Move on ffs.
  15. Amongst all this talk of needing a World-class striker... Has anyone else considered we might go back in for a black Englishman? I wonder....
  16. Anyway, this thread has been done about 50-60 times already on this forum. Is it really such a slow week?
  17. To be honest I don't think we'd even need scouts for a signing like Kaka. I mean we all know he's worth signing. Can't see it happen though.
  18. Schweinsteiger is a workhorse with just about enough skill for a wide player. In that sense, he seems to fit Rafa's plans in the same way as for instance Kuyt does. Not sure if need more workers though. I think we'd be better off with someone with that bit of extra skill, as we have plenty of hard workers in the team already (Riise, Momo, Gerrard, Kuyt etc.). My 3 would be: Quaresma Alves Villa I think we'd be well stocked with these 3. Possibilities all around: GK: Reina, Carson LB: Riise, Aurelio, Arbeloa, Finnan(!), Insua RB: Alves, Finnan, Arbeloa CB: Carragher, Agger, Hyypiä, Arbeloa, Paletta LM: Quaresma, Kewell, Gonzalez, Leto, Riise, Garcia RM: Alves, Gerrard, Quaresma, Pennant, Garcia CM: Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano, Sissoko, (Zenden) CF: Villa, Kuyt, Bellamy, Crouch, Voronin Obviously if we signed those 3, some of the ones I've listed above would leave no doubt, but I would happily let, say Crouch, Pennant, Garcia and Gonzalez leave if it meant we signed them 3. We could go for something like this just as one example: ---------------Reina---------------- Alves, Carragher, Agger, Finnan ------Mascherano-Alonso--------- Quaresma----Gerrard-----Kewell ---------------Villa------------------ IMO, Finnan could provide more stability if he was coached to play left back (a'la Dennis Irwin) than Riise, which would be needed if we were to play Alves on the right of the defence. We'd also have enough attacking threat from the front 4 supported by a marauding Alves and occasionally Alonso with more than enough defensive cover by the 2 midfield sitters and even Gerrard. All ifs and buts though, but if ManU can piss away with the league title with this type of formation: -------------Carrick------------ Ronaldo----Scholes-----Giggs ---------Rooney---------------- -----------------Saha----------- ...then I don't think we'd be "too attacking" with the type of formation I suggested above.
  19. Hyypiä is not playing, as Finland don't have a game today. Shalom Israel!
  20. (low standards mind )
