But then it’s not just FSG.
if this thing does happen and we stay out of it, it’ll not be a great sight for football and/or Liverpool supporters either.
So whatever FSG decide, the other owners who are part of this should do too for this to go away.
More from Milner:
On the European Super League: "I can only give my personal opinion and I don't like it one bit and hopefully it doesn't happen.
"It [the current system] has worked well for a long time, what has made it special what we have done over the last few years is we have earned the right to win the Champions League and earned the right to win the Premier League. The product we have currently is very good.
"It is difficult. Coming into the game today Leeds fans were making their feelings shown. As players we don't really have a say so it feels a bit unjust. All we can do is try and win football matches."
Liverpool midfielder James Milner talking to Sky Sports:
What is your view of the European Super League? "Same as everyone there is a lot of questions. I can only say my view, I don't like it and hopefully it doesn't happen. I can imagine what has been said about it and I probably agree with a lot of it."
Like someone posted earlier: at least we got to win the league and CL once more before this monstrosity commenced.
I’m also struggling to think what this means to the young kids with aspirations about becoming a pro. Is this world something that we want our kids to become part of? I know the development has been there for the last 20-30 years but somehow this makes it much more concrete and reveals the ugly nature of the whole thing.
Sad days indeed.
Piss off professional football.
To put a positive spin on it:
1) we might have an advantage over Chelsea with fewer games coming up now
2) better to be back in it next year than risk top 4 this year by going all in on CL where with no CBs we’d have a very limited chance of lifting the trophy even at the semi final stage
3) our performance - with its problems - causes optimism for the league games
4) fewer games until this f***er of a season is over with
Well I tried
Imagine losing to Chelsea in the semis or to City in the final though.
With this version of us there was never a chance that we’d actually go on to win it.
This is the type of performance that the lads can be proud of.
Day and night between this and some of the s*** over the last few months.
Just need to learn some finishing.
