  1. I am sure a lot of people feel the same way about things they said or did towards the end of the 03/04 season. Some of the stuff was vitriolic and OTT - I stopped looking at the Liverpool Way then and have not returned since as I felt Dave Usher was particularly OTT in things he said, which is still, rightly or wrongly, how I jusdge him. GH only ever wanted the best for us. The systems he put in place stabalised us, and without his efforts and hard work we would not have won the European Cup 12 months after he left.
  2. true, they give us more of a match
  3. 3 titles in 36 years until recently despite spending shedloads and nothing since 1988 not that recent - and as we know 1 European Cup 40 years ago - hardly puts them on a par with Milan does it. How about Inter are Everton AC are us?
  4. History in a word - that thing Chelsea also don't have!!! I know Inter have more than Chelsea but it is mainly 40 years ago apart from the titles recently when Juve were relegated etc
  5. Ged is a Gentleman and when he left he showed great dignity. I will never forghet the last 2 months of the 2000/01 season, oh happy days, thanks Ged. Sami, Didi - just those 2 words are enough for us to be thankful!
  6. True, and he gives plenty of effort!
  7. IMO he was not, not anywhere near. All we need now is Kaizer with the stats to give us the definitive proof!!!

    Souness

Souness, for me, is 2nd only to Kenny in the players I have seen live playing for Liverpool (I am 35!). If you took the best of Gerrard, Keane and Viera, combined them, the sum of the parts is Graeme Souness IMO. Always remember him on Sky when Utd were playing the Gooners with Kean and Viera were at their peak. Keys said (or words to that effect), I bet your glad you are not out there facing those 2 Graeme, Souness looked at him with utter contempt and replied along the lines of he'd love to be out there facing them, it was them who should be glad HE wasn't out there. What a player, would be worth £35M+ in the modern game.
  10. Wrong, initially they agreed a figure of £12M including appearance related fees etc etc. Only because Southampton were strapped for cash and therefore negotaited a cheaper early fee was it less than we paid for Babel - they still ended up paying £9.1M though and I bet he has not cost us that yet!!!
  11. We paid less than Arsenal paid for Walcott and he is only just starting to show anything over 2 years later. I think he is proving a good buy and will get better and better.

    Souness

why do we need 2 Souness threads?
  13. The small club over the park are getting shirty!!!
  14. As my Grandad always said "Grass doesn't grow on a busy thouroughfare"!!! That's our Rafa - always thinking!!!

    Andy Gray

Ant, your non stop support of Sky and all things Sky is as laughable as all the blinkered criticism!!!
  16. John, how anyone can question what he has given and also gives this club is beyond me.
  17. Yes - that one confused me too!!!
  18. Wes Brown who has played more games for them this year than anyone else amazingly!!
  19. Yes, I know, but it proves you don't need the "technical ability" to beat players to be a good wide midfielder. IMO Kuyts delivery has not been too bad the last few weeks. One of the best crossers of a ball we have had in the last 15 years was Colly more and he was not a midfielder, so for this 4-2-3-1 system are strikers the answer as the wide men?
  20. Since when did you need to be able to go past somebody to be able to play wide right - Beckham never beat anyone but he was a decent wide right midfielder!
  21. I agree - we have been called a 1 man team for years - including by a lot of your lot - and it is b****x!
  22. All teams have stand out players who perform in the big games and pull them through. We have Gerrard and Torres - Utd have Placcy and Rooney - Drogba has done it many times for Chelsea - stupid pointless discussion!
  23. You are missing my point - what I mean is when i listen to him commentate on them he does not come across as biased to me - ie I don't think he is anti them.
  24. Very very good point!
  25. I think we all get a bit carried away about this anti LFC stuff. Mates of mine who are Man Ure fans spout exactly the same stuff about Alan Green and his Liverpool bias yet I don't hear it. Yes, Gray is a c*nt, Keys is cr*p and they talk sh*t, but I rewatched the post match stuff from the other night and Redknapp and Souness were in no way at all anti Liverpool - far from it, Souness looked ready to floor Keys. Redknapp is a poor poor pundit though!!!!
