The worst team from the quarter finalists (so far) is more fun : ----------------------------Robinson---------------------- Friedrich---------Terry--------Rusol------------Valente Beckham------Emerson-------Rossi---------Lampard -------------Gilardino------------Adriano-------------- Subs : Ricardo, Heinze, Mertsacker, Sorin, Henry

Aurelio on a free ; Paletta for £2m ; Bellamy £6m ; Alves £10m (someone on RAWK saying we have agreed terms now) ; but no money left over for Kuyt without selling? Morientes sold for £3m meaning our budget was £15m? Can't see it meself. If Rafa wants Kuyt we will get him, but we do need to get rid of a few (Dudek/Traore/Le Tallec/Pongolle/Cisse loan).

Robbie Earle does not know a thing about football!!!!!! How he made it as a pundit defies all common knowledge.

I think..... he hasn't got a clue I think..... England could be embarrassed by the Worlds 39th Ranked Side I think..... he willl go out of his way to accomodate Beckham, so he puts in a water carrier for him (Hargreaves) And I think..... when we're over run in midfield by this lot today, he won't know what to do, panic and then bring Crouch on in desperation ...... I think Exactly, I remember one game we lost last season, he said that when we were being pressured in midfield it was our job to make the pitch as big as it can be to counter-act this, genius that he could immediately say what we had done wrong. Last year he identified the fact that we were not keeping the ball up the pitch because our players then could not hold the ball up, what does he do, buys Crouch, problem solved. If Sven could do one interview where he's not talking about individuals and talking about the team as a collective, or explain a certain sort of game plan after the game (not before the game obviously) , or where it went wrong, I'd have far more respect for him. But as it happens he's limited as a coach, useless as a motivator and a manager and is too easily swayed by his senior players (or player....) and media

Answer me this, when have you ever heard Sven talk tactics?
-
My thoughts exactly, I can see peoples arguements over Carra being dropped because of playing Right Back, although Beckham never passes the bloody ball to him when going forward, BUT why is Hargreaves in there, okay he had a pretty good game in midfield, but this is defence, something he doesn't do particularly well. And if Plug (ferdinand) is out, why stick that head case Campbell in there, Carra has outplayed them pair the past two seasons, exhibiting world class performances and consistency, the other two, well Campbell's lucky to be in the squad because Ledley King's injured and Ferdinand just isnt very consistent. I do feel that Carra is being made the scapegoat, by Sven (what a t*** head), for Carra not being able to mark his player and Beckhams as well for the Sweden chances and goal. If its true that Gerrard had a word with Beckham over it like that Rob Jones 411 guy said I hope they went like this "Do your f***ing job, you flash over-rated c***!"

I'm pretty happy with the way the club is run, on the whole. Seeing that f***g clown Shepherd on the TV every 5 mins moaning & whinging makes me SO glad that we have some dignity in the boardroom. We usually do compete in the transfer market in terms of fees & wages, the ticketing is way, way improved from 2 or 3 seasons ago and it's right that the club is ultra cautious about the huge spend on the new stadium. The prospect of being bought out concerns me because we have always been a "family" club run for the benefit of the team not the shareholders, so I would be happy to see us continue as we are and if there is any new money coming in, it should be by way of sponsorship (stadium naming rights etc) rather than through change of control at the top.

When will an England manager bite the bullet
beejay replied to a topic in General Football Discussion
I was in rage when I saw Beckham having a go at the defenders for the goal and the corner straight afterward. Both times they were his man, both times the flash f*** wit missed his man and didn't challenge and both times he flies off in a rage at his backline even though he wasnt doing his job. God forbid if a Beckham mistake results in him not being the tabloid presses show piece darling -
In support of Cally... David Hodgson posted a while ago that according to his sources, Alves WOULD play as an attacking right back, particularly in games at Anfield where teams come to defend. He would also play some games in right midfield (in the same way we use Riise)where we needed more solidity. At that time, DH was arguing that we could be after Pennant as well as Alves. Makes a lot of sense to me and no-one blazed DH when he posted - why give Cally such a hard time now, is it because he picked on one of the forum untouchables?

Yes, a lot more. I can't see what the fuss is all about. Cracking player, at his peak, works like a dog, pace to burn and with a great assist record as well as a decent goal scoring history. People are going on about us spending big money on alves then we pick up quality like bellamy at a cheap price and there are still complaints. He is a natural to play off Crouch. PC will hold his position and Bellamy will run all day off him. A vastly more intelligent footballer than either Baros or Cisse, this is the big chance he always wanted and as a Liverpool fan to boot, he will give it everything. The Kop will warm to him very quickly I reckon.

England are crying out for 3-5-2
beejay replied to Huyton_Red's topic in General Football Discussion
Sorry Cally77 but you are a joke, I've been reading a lot of your posts and all you ever seem to do is back bite and bitch, pack it in will you. And I don?t want to hear about whether your 7"2 and built like Shaquille O Neill nobody cares. How about u post your opinion and not make sarcastic or derogatory comments back, and try not to insult anybody on the way. It may surprise you but I agree with some of the things you are trying to say, but because you post like somebody with a massive chip on their shoulder, nobody cares. -

Agree there are not enough players who play for England, even Gerrard sometimes, who have the patience and composure on the ball for any system to work immediately, but with a 451 system we may have a chance because we can be compact enough to defend, but have numbers in midfield enough to attack and press when we dont have the ball. It won't matter anyway, because when a team like Argentina or Spain can pass round you even when your backing off, you just have to hope that the standard of our defending will be able to withstand the subsequent waves of attack when England go deeper and deeper and forsake any attacking football altogether. -

Its besides the point anyway because if Beckham plays in this format Neville won't I'm afraid. For what its worth, I think Neville is an average defender, over rated as a crosser, doesn't perform for England and has no pace. -

Did you see the running and movement of the ball from the argies though, they ALWAYS have a passing option. England cant comprehend movement off the ball unless its overlapping on the wings or running aimlessly into the box sadly. -

My sentiment exactly, agree with the idea, but Beckhams too much of a glory boy and he'll be out of position too much and he cant defend for s***. Also with a 352 we will always be out numbered in midfield, whether it be against 4 or 5 midfielders, so I'm not really a fan. -
Depends what you mean by high-profile. Beckham is high profile, don't want him. So is Ronaldo, don't want him either. The last really high profile player we bought was Morientes. Nuff said. Alves isn't high profile, Joaquim is. I would prefer Alves. We are clearly chasing two from Kuyt, Bellamy, Bent, Defoe and all those are medium to high profile. I would be more concerned if we blew £20 odd mil on one "high-profile" player, particularly from abroad and in the process, failed to address other weaknesses in the squad.

Its a sin that the greatest engine in English football is being told to stop behind the back four and not make runs into the box. I don't know about stats (someone enlighten me) but I bet Gerrard covers far more ground than Lampard. For the sake of this thread, the three best midfielders I've seen this world cup are Rosicky, Nedved and Riquelme
-
Sos if this is a bit off point but I was watching an interview where bbc were interviewing Lampard the other day and Lineker said whether it was tactics that he was playing further up the field. The fat t*** completely evaded the question. If our lads kicked up a huff and a puff about not playing in their rightful positions we wouldn't have Carra bein the f***in dogs body of the side, never mind Neville being there, and Lampard would be doing Gerrards bitch work instead of the other way around!!

He was given permission to leave the club by manager Rafa Benitez last week, as the Reds feel they have strength in depth in midfield and need to allocate resources to improve other areas of the team. Liverpool spent the weekend stepping up efforts to sign Daniel Alves, but Seville continue to hold firm on a £12m valuation. Looks like Hamman is a casualty of Cisse's broken leg rather than us bringing in a replacement. We need his wages for other departments. Still hope he stays and we unload someone else - answers on a postcard.
-
Alves is clearly Rafa's No 1 target for the summer and although there are some hard-nosed negotiations going on, I think we will pay whatever it takes. It was the same with Crouch last year - Rafa wanted him badly but Southampton played hard ball and the £7m was at least £2m more than most expected us to pay.
-
Really surprised he's gone, fantastic servant and such a great influence will be sorely missed. I posted in the Cisse bye-bye thread that we may be losing some of our true dressing room characters this summer with Traore & Cisse and Hamman is reputedly one of the best for banter. Just wonder if this is a result of cisse's injury - we had bolton's offer on the table, cisse's wages are back on the books so we let didi go as a counter-balance so we can go ahead with our transfer targets. Can't find any other explanation for letting the great man go

It's not *** koptalk. RAWK knows a bit more than your f*** dog, and this is the transfer window speculation thread so if you don't like it, do one.
