Yeah the FA Cup has regained some of its sheen this year with us beating United and Chelsea on our way to the final. Problem is that the way football is going is that it really is a race to the champions league because of the amount of money involved in getting there. if you don't qualify for champions league for two seasons in a row it would become tough to get back amongst the top 4

I think the key in all this was that we wouldn't pay more for him than we sold him for. But people wonder if he could have insisted on going to Liverpool even though Newcastle were offering Madrid more money. Should he have called Madrid's bluff and refused to talk to Newcastle. I think in an ideal world we would love this club not to need an outside investor to come in and for the club to be self financing through tv money, ticket sales, merchandise sales etc. However given that it seems we need this investment to fund a new stadium and to ensure monies are available to bring in the class of player that we need to consistently challenge for the title we need to get comfortable with the idea that the person to invest that money won't necessarily be a life long fan of the club but is somebody who has some of the less appealing characteristics that invariably go with being in their position Only difference will be some of these people care more about pr and spin and their public profiles (eg Richard Branson) than others

Off Crouch - any of Garcia, Fowler, Cisse, Pongolle would do a better job IMO He is just not mobile enough. Not denying he was a great player but he is just not performing the role we need from a forward.
