Maybe it makes sense that Jacquet carries on with training as normal but swerves the games. Seems like the conditioning is happening away from the games, the friendlies are just a marketing exercise where the players trot about after training sessions.

Definitely reasonable that we give Iraola time to set out what kind of midfielder he needs, the annoying part is the negligence from the higher ups who should have been planning for the new manager in about January.

It looks like it's going to be 2 sitting with Wirtz in a 3 behind the striker. At least that bit of clarity will help, thinking about last season when Slot persisted with Gravenberch moving forward/ basically not having a midfield. In terms of the contracts given out, that looks like the plan will be Gravenberch and Dom sitting. Mac Allister and Dom can also do a bit in the 10. If Jones goes and we bring in someone who suits what Iraola's after, we could be pretty well set. Probably not ideal, but other positions are more pressing and they don't seem arsed about signing anyone.

Feels like one of him and mac allister are going to be unhappy at being told they're not going anywhere this summer. Sure they'll be happy enough once they move onto thinking about the signing-on fee they'll get when they go on a free next summer.

Where we're at now in the window, the club probably have to cop for another club having our pants down to get a deal done.
