Oh yeah haha, I was thinking there's that much work needed elsewhere in the squad that they might decide to stick with what we have in midfield. A midfield of Gravenverch, Szoboszlai and Wirtz feels a bit like how Iraola set up with Bournemouth?

With the same midfield that won the league? But yeah, I can just imagine him getting more out of Szoboszlai in midfield (if we can sign a right back).

Who would you go for? I can imagine a world where Iraola says he's happy with what we've got currently.

Too late to edit, but just realized that I've basically set out the argument for hanging on to see if we can get Barcola I just don't think we're getting him.

Feels like we might be hanging on to see what happens with Barcola, who is still there. But that definitely feels like a bad idea given that we've basically acknowledged the alternatives aren't at the same level.

Richard Hughes has come down with a serious case of World Cup Fever. The club have reluctantly admitted defeat, they simply cannot shift him from in front of the telly. He's sat there wearing all of the different national scarves, up til all hours really going for it with his old-timey rattle.

There's such a lack of players on the market who prefer to play on the right. Can imagine Barcola just thinking he can go to arsenal and walk into their side on the left. We arguably need quantity over quality anyway, so I'd be all over Minteh if he's available at a reasonable fee.

Always got the impression the Bournemouth players really liked him, so whatever he was doing seemed to work.

I wonder if we've struggled to convince Diomande and Barcola that playing on the right will be good for them. When they can just go somewhere else and play in their preferred position.

Mad that Scotland only found out yesterday that they were out, and they could have been playing tomorrow if results had gone their way. So they must have been training as normal until yesterday too.

I wonder what kind of number they're quoting for Minteh. Would imagine Brighton will want a lot, but at least they'll give you an asking price for every player.
