    KT R.I.P

This thread is great - nostalgic, hilarious and disturbing in equal measure. There's more than a bit of KT Anonymous about it. "Hi my name is CARHEEX, I am a recoving KT user, and I Find It Hard To tYpe WiThouT hittInG the ShiFt kEy raNDOmlY". (was that him, or was he the strangely contrived spelling mistakes poster?)
  2. I always end up saying this, but the best all-round midfielder we've ever put on the pitch is Souness, the end. Dominated every player he ever came up against, could tackle, score from 30 yards, and pass effortlessly, when under pressure. Never felt so confident watching us as when Souness was on the pitch. Of course whether he'd have been able to match Gerrard's athleticism in he modern game is debatable. The levels of fitness nowadays are so much higher than even 10 years ago, let alone 20, that if you literally put the early-80s Souness into today's team, he might be blowing hard by half time. We'll never know, I guess.
  3. Quality.
  4. agree with all of that. Watched the game in a pub - and the Hammers fans were sh*tting themselves every time the ball went near him. Plays a lot like Shearer did, c.'96

makes me wonder whether we could do one in 'ransom note' font. Would look mildly scary, and a little mental.
  6. Agree 100% with the sentiment in this thread. If someone can point out the weak link in that 22 I'm all ears (well, eyes, technically). It's not so much that everyone there is amazing, but that everyone there has *at some point* played well for a run of games - which means that with a little rotation (and a following wind) we should have The Machine that RB was working on at Valencia.
  7. I think my monitor just cracked down the middle.
  8. on the basis that he's twice the player Carrick is, that sounds about right... ...but I suspect it's just Motson overhearing someone say "£13m" and apply his "Instant Hyperboliser" to it.
  9. comedy. If someone can find a link to that quote, I'd love to mail it to him and ask just how much of a c**t he feels now
  10. very, very good point. Strangely I suspect we won't be seeing the press going on about "Hoofinho" or "long ball Chelsea" the way they did about GH, even though I think Moaning is a more defensive tactician than GH.
  11. seconded. And lazy c**t is being generous. Never seen him breathing hard playing for us. Why are there professional footballers like that? Mind-boggling.
  12. Meanwhile, back at the topic... out of interest, Martins handed in a tranfer request yesterday (or the day before)... so he wouldn't be expensive (well not as expensive as if he was uninterested in leaving). Dunno if we want another lightning quick finisher a la Bellamy, when what we need is a target man, even though Martins is top-notch.
  13. Jean Reno's stunt double, it seems.
  14. Wes Craven's next film title. F'cking terrifying that
  15. well I thought it was funny. I do every time I hear a gag like that.
  16. yeah, I know - actually I figured he was talking about all percentage of all games played (including cups) in which case I suspect last year's side pissed on the 87/88 team...I'm pretty sure we won a lot more games in Europe last year than that team did in the 87 for example. But anyhow, still impressive form from Don Rafa's side, compared to Kenny's dontchathink? And it's not like we're up against some of the cannon-fodder than lived in the top-flight in 87....Oxford, Luton, Norwich, QPR, Wimbledon....good grief.
  17. quote "With every passing week during the spring months the Reds eclipsed the win percentage of another Anfield Championship era, eventually overtaking the phenomenal 1987/88 side" sorry to return to the point of the thread but does nobody else find this f'cking astounding? Last year's team won more games than the Barnes/Beardsley/Aldridge team. That is incredible, and if the addition of pace in 3 positions on the pitch helps us go up another notch, Rafa will indeed be mentioned in the same breath as Shanks and Sir Bob.

You mean a personal manual soil relocation device? Yeah, I'm never afraid to name one of those.
  23. I hope with every fibre of my being you're right. I agree that so far Kuyt has been a modest, humble bloke (for a dutchman ) it's just that I have heard the smallest whisper from press bods that his head is a little turned by all the attention, and the genetic Dutch Footballer's Ego may have been awakened from its dormant phase. Really hope this is utter ballacks, mind - he'd be a star for us, I'm sure. Him and Bellamy in the same side would be an unbelievable pain in the 'arris for anyone we play. Fyds mate - have you heard anything about his current situ/state of mind?

wouldn't worry too much - right wing for Brazil? Not gonna happen - they have one or two good midfielders/forwards ? Right back? Cicinho and Cafu have that sewn up for the mo', and I'm sure there's another kiddy they've used there ahead of our (soon) new boy. I guess the danger is if they start rebuilding after the WC, or if a lot of the big name players pull out of the Copa, then he could be called up... but hey, it means he's playing fantastically if it happens, so what's the prob?
