  2. Worse things to do at 38 years of age I guess. Like being paid to go the gym.
  3. Such as who? Do they want to remove even a remote chance of playing football from their career? They would be joining to train. It's a less appealing gig than being back up for Brentford.
  4. The Phillips quote is really funny I think. As if it's a hardship to sell him for £15m and they'd be anything other than delighted to get that amount.
  5. Not really. United have signed Tom Heaton having had Lee Grant, most clubs just have kids as their third choice.
  6. Think it's quite tough to find that person though when you break down what you're after. You're talking someone who's probably mid 30s, is English or Welsh, doesn't care that he isn't going to be on the bench never mind play, while also being of a reasonable enough standard to not be a negative in training. It's likely a really small pool of player. There is also a chance I suppose that if push came to shove, you just leave Adrian out of the squad anyway.
  7. He had an injury, they fixed him, he's fine now. (I'd also sign Kabak (as I think that is a steal) if we didn't have a serious issue with the number of foreign players but we are where we are)
  8. You could do that, but if you do do that you have to accept that you're effectively giving him a sale value which isn't ideal.
  9. Could be as simple as there just not being a viable option in that respect. You’re looking at a very specific person to be 3rd choice and homegrown.
  10. Yeah, we already need to effectively shift two to get one in. If Origi isn’t going, you’re struggling a bit after Grujic and Shaqiri when it comes to desirability on both sides.
  11. If he doesn't request to leave he gets the money anyway.
  12. Sorry worded that badly, I didn't really mean outwardly sound, more sound with the players. Maybe I've imagined it but I've always got the impression that his players seem to quite like playing for him. And also, if they don't it's fairly easy for him to just pick ones he gets on with which is something I found interesting with Mancini. Not that he needed to do it, but at club level he seemed to go in to a club and find players who he couldn't work with.
  13. Yeah, agree with that. Wouldn't mind him actually going and going it before we enter calculations to be honest.

  15. I don't even think the manager needs to be that good really, there's plenty of non top level managers who win things at this level. They need to be half decent tactically and fairly sound, while also managing to be a bit lucky. While it sounds mad citing luck as a thing, you can spawn your way to a World Cup/Euros cos the format is so short. He seems to manage the fairly sound bit, he's had the luck you need, but he definitely hasn't got the tactical bit. There's some very average to poor managers who I think would give England a better chance than Southgate, including the man he replaced.
  16. Yeah, backed them at 12/1 the other week.
  17. Was a decent one yeah. I've been excellent at losing bets in finals for about the last 10 years (fairly sure you were present for the worst of the 6 or 7 incidents) so I went in to meltdown territory basically from when Trippier crossed the ball until Saka missed.
  18. No. He does only have to write about 4 things a week though. So probably a good job.
  19. You'd do it for the wage.
  20. The metropolitan borough of Trafford maybe.
  21. I thought there was until the score flashed up as Saka put the ball down. But my head had gone and I’d forgotten how to count.

  23. You win if it's more than 76.5 and you lose if it's less than 75, but the further away from those numbers the bigger the win or the loss. If you buy for £10 at 76.5 and we get 90 you'd get £135 back. If we got 50 points you'd lose £265.
  24. For what it's worth, they had 85.5-87 last season from my records and that seems like a fairly big overreaction to knock it down by 10.
  25. Sporting Index.
