Very poor in-game management from Kenny today. The team selection was poor today. Skrtel had no protection whatsoever. Should have put Kuyt on the right, or even Maxi. Henderson will need time, and will need to toughen up massively. He needed to be hauled off as soon as we went down to ten - he is passive and not up for a fight. Spearing coming on at half time would have appeared negative, but would have solidified the team and possibly given us a platform to build from given we were only 1-0 down. Carroll did well given the circumstances I thought, but needed to be taken off at half time for Bellamy who would have offered better defensive cover, but also stretch Spurs with his pace. Rafa always emphasised controlling games, but often we would sacrifice control for cutting edge. We have seen both so far under Kenny (less control but more open and free flowing), probably just need to find better balance. Can i say that apart from the first match at OT, I can't remember Kenny make positive/game-changing substitutions of note. Slightly concerned...
  3. The own goal was offside. Suarez goal was perfectly valid. Different phase and all that, as you mentioned...

    Spurs away

Defensively? Agreed. But his effect on the team play is enormous. He should not be given the ball. And when he has it he should be looking to play it short and quickly to the closest teammate.
  5. Is he then not responsible for us dropping too deep at times though, because it is his natural instinct...

Love his post-match press conference (taken from the official site). "If we continue to play like that with the same attitude and the commitment then we will be okay this season, but if we continually get battered with things that are outside our control then we are not going to have much chance. "Our first four league games have all had a contentious decision in them and every one of them has gone against us. "We would like to be respectful towards referees. I think I have been respectful to referees, but more importantly than being respectful to referees in their campaign it's about having respect for my football club, Liverpool Football Club. "If I feel they (Liverpool FC) are suffering in any shape of form then maybe I need to go down the same route as some other people go and see if we can get some benefit from that. I'll speak to the owners first and see what they say because the last thing I want is for my behaviour to infringe on the club's success in any way, shape or form." Now that is a proper battle cry - GET IN KING KENNY!
  7. Need more movement off the ball. Playing as well as we can. Need Johnson for Skrtel. Or Carragher.
  8. Get off it. Awful defending. Desperation defending after, dragging the player by the waist. Penalty.
  9. Awful game from Carra so far. Hoofing like a league two player....and then gives away a peno... Playing well on the whole though... (the team that is)
  10. Carra gave away a penalty.........

Yea Bellamy's fitness isn't he? Works with Wales as well...?
  12. Gary Mac Sami Suarez can't remember the other one, don't remember that it was Pepe though...
  13. Just watching LFC TV, featuring a small segment where Carragher listed his 5 favourite transfers.... no.5 - Fernando Torres' transfer to Chelsea HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH,,,,
  14. And back then Bellamy didn't play the wide role which he only started doing for City...
  15. Milan won the title last season didn't they?
  16. He never had a striker who could form a partnership with him apart from Gerrard who was a midfielder. We find him the perfect strike partner and he fecks off.
  17. Didn't he get shafted due to the previous regime giving him a small contract with a gentleman's agreement (ha ha ha) to review his pay this summer? Can't blame him for wanting to go. Also can't blame the club for not giving him a better contract if he's not seen as a key player. Personally I am a fan, and would have loved for him to stay. Intelligent player and will do well at Chelsea.
  18. Oh how far we've come. Chelsea 1-3 in the quarters in 09, I remember reading that Lucas was targeted as the weak link and they just let him play, focusing on closing down Alonso. Was watching the Bolton game again this morning and thought that Adam is looking more and more like he's settling into a similar role to what Alonso did for us. And then straight away wondered what a partnership of Alonso and the Lucas of today would be like...
  19. People keep going on about the Man Utd 3-1 game last season being a great central midfield performance from Gerrard but my overriding feeling when watching the game was that Gerrard was trying too hard to dictate play and ended up stepping onto people's toes and wanting to be on the ball all the time. This in turn affected the shape of the team when we were on the ball...
  20. But that's what Gerrard does, and doesn't do. He goes for the more eye-catching play, and doesn't make the simple pass even when it's the right one...
  21. Think Leo did some weeks back didn't he?
  22. Watched the game with my Arsenal supporting mate at the ground yesterday - he hooked me up with a ticket so I had to hold it in when we scored... He was raving about Enrique, constantly asking why Wenger didn't go after him given that Gibbs was constantly injured. And he said all along even before we got Enrique, that we dodged one in missing out on Clichy. At first I wasn't convinced, but on the evidence of his first two games, I am now convinced we have one of the top left backs in England.
  23. Flame me for saying that but I've looked at the replays about 50 times and still am not 100% convinced it was a clean header from Carroll. Actually, I'm almost certain it was a Kolarov OG or deflection...

    Penalties

Suarez used to take them for Ajax didn't he? I'm sure his record is decent. That miss was so bad it hilarious if I'm honest. I chuckled a little after I saw the replays. Not sure if it would have been that funny if it was in the last minute of the game but...

Something I spotted last season as well. Nothing wrong in calling it as we see it. Might not be correct, but we should be able to discuss/analyse the football without being accused of heresy. The game on Saturday was calling out for some tactical adjustments on our part - Sunderland reacted to our movement and tempo after the break, but we didn't look like we had an answer to their changes. The players visibly tired from about the 75th minute, there was no movement ahead and off the ball. We needed Meireles to play as a third midfielder, with Downing and Kuyt wide of Carroll. Am I right in saying that the third sub was never used as well? Defo required fresh legs - I was shocked to see the bench without Maxi, he would have been a good player to come on in place of Suarez to link up the play.
