Definitely. Lovren is much better and the only good times we've had defensively under Rodgers have been when a way past his best Carra replaced Skrtel in his first season. League : Skrtel started 59, Conceded 78. 1.3 goals per game. Not started : 17, Conceded 13. 0.76 per game. Doesnt have to be a supposed world beater to improve this defence, just someone solid and competent.

Dont think he'll go for much more, they've made it pretty clear they are desperate to get rid so he wont fetch a huge price regardless of how good he is.

Skrtel is the main problem, the only time we've been solid defensively under Rodgers and had plenty of clean sheets was when he got dropped last season. If you go through our dodgy defending away from home he's always at the heart of it. The Palace equaliser, lost Eto'o at Stamford Bridge, was meant to be marking Kompany at the Etihad, Fulham's goal for 2-1, backed off Charlie Adam at Stoke, Arsenal's first in the Cup and theres loads more. He's s*** and I bet our problems at the back go a long way to being fixed when he's out of the team.

Sanchez would be great but if not I'm confident the manager will get even more out of the current players and sign the next superstar with the money whether that's a Markovic, Draxler or whoever who knows.
