Yeah I dont get it myself, obviously theres the Roy effect and thats not good but anytime an England fan is on the tele there seems to be an air of resignation that its impossible to even get out of "the group of death". I'd rather have England's squad than the others in there. The groups not easy but that and the potential of a second round against someone like Ivory Coast. It's hardly frightening is it?
Strange English expectations seem non existant this time, they've got a relatively straight forward path straight to the quarter finals in my opinion! Well under a good manager they would have.
It's a shame how it turned out for Pepe, ever since Valdes announced he wasn't going to sign a new contract he'd have a weekly interview pretty much begging Barcelona to sign him, might have been a realistic option then but he looks in a bit of limbo now. Barca got Ter Stegen and apparently want to sign Claudio Bravo. I thought Rafael looked better for Napoli than Reina this season though I'm not sure how his injury is and Brendan has made it pretty clear he's not got a future here. From what I saw of him at Napoli it was brilliance one week, thinking Rafa has worked his magic then letting one roll under him or through his near post the next week. Thought the De Guzman goal for Swansea v them was a good example of Pepe now, not something that goes down as a huge clanger but one a good goalie has to be saving. Perhaps the one chance is Atletico but they wont pay him that money and I'm sure I saw they're going after someone else. Loan to AC Milan it is then!
He's easily better. Goals are masking a shocking defender for some. He's terrible, look at Kompany's goal against us, Eto'o's, Palace's 3rd, Hulls 3rd, Newcastle at Anfield, Fulham's 2nd and loads more.
So far I've done : Fred top scorer at 22/1. Think they'll win it so will have the maximum amount of games to play, he's a decent goalscorer, was joint top scorer in Confed Cup last season, was ony joint because Torres got 4 v Tahiti aswell. England to make the quarter final at 15/8. The manager is a fool but I dont think it's the impossible group that the media try and make out and theres a kind draw awaiting whoever makes it to the second round. Whoscored highest rated player - Neymar at 14/1. Their scoring system seems to favour dribblers who get goals, he can do that and I expect him to score 3 or 4 given it's at home and they'll go far.
Might aswell keep him around, no one will even get close to paying his wages and after yet another average season it looks like Napoli wont either despite claiming they do want him permanently.
