    I think it was at this stage of the Morientes signing last year when I admitted I hadn't seen enough of him, but what I had seen I wasn't particularly overwhelmed with. Is this guy much better, as I have the same questions in my head about Dirk. He looks a 'Premiership' player, if that makes sense and I'd love him to be our 20 goal man that'll take us to 90 points.

    Tony Cascarino, who has a bit of insider knowledge, reckons frank might be in for a shock. It came to a choice between Gerrard and frank. And frank lost, allegedly.

    I feckin' don't. It's a rarity we get to see some decent football on our doorstep without having to travel. Apart from the Dubs that is. My closest club is St. Pats and they're pitiful.

    how's the search for tickets going? Very short in suply, normally the players get 10 each, they were given 4. The German FA won't sell to us, so it looks like there'll be a lot of people watching the game in bars in Stuttgart.

    I was there. I get my tickets from one of the backroom staff I know. The lads were to go to the pictures. Stan was outside the hotel waiting on them to come down. He charged into the hotel, obviously terrified, while the nutter ran towards the water. Gardai everywhere withing minutes.

    I've changed my mind now, I think we can do it. We have a huge squad of decent players putting pressure on each other, and with such a long season this term the competition for places will be key in keeping the players working hard.

    would we be happy with an extra 6 points but still not win it? Are we at the end of our improvement stage. Win or bust?

    Doubtless, they were the best side. But as we've been arguing on here for months, to my mind they're mechanically effective. But certainly the best side. We've an arduous season ahead, we'll need that squad, what with 40 sides competing.

    Andy, are you mad? We were 9 points behing Chelsea, NOT 96. That's the 2 defeats to Chelsea and 1 against UTD orArsenal. You might argue (if you had any sense) that you get the same points for beating Wigan as you do v Chelsea, but we were far more consistent againg the Wigans that we wer agains the other top sides.

    Our failing last year was our performances against the top sides. Just saying like. Wouldn't suggest for a second you were talking tripe.

    I do agree HR, the guy's a nailed on football genius. Likes to play players where they're comfortable and rarely do his substitutions NOT make an impact. Saw we needed a bit more pace and has he remedied that one! I'm just a bit reluctant to start shouting the championship chant as it's been that long and we've had more than a few false dawns. Like I say, a personal thing, you work away
