For too many of our lads, playing for Liverpool is enough
Arazel replied to JonShar 's topic in Liverpool FC
I always giggle inside when people dismiss Kuyt. Sometimes I giggle out loud too, in cases of extra idiocy. This thread is one. How anyone can criticise Kuyt when hes scored the amount of goals he has from a pretty defenseive right wing position is laughable. Open your eyelids sonny. -
He has a very catchy motto.
-
Turan is a beast, I remember playing especially well at the 08 Euros.
-
Ive aired my issues in this thread. If you want me to copy and paste from here to an email for no real purpose, then let me know.
-
So membership money would pay for flights across the world? Hmmm. In my opinion anyway thats not really putting resources to the greatest use.
-
Torres Masch Lucas It would have been Lucas, but he had a poor 2nd half.
-
You've lost me. He was voted on, I get that. However, can you not see the benefits of appealing to the masses by having a non-scouse foreign officer? I was trying to offer an air of commendibility towards your group for voting the correct way, so im not sure what your beef is about, nor your strange decision to capitalise the first sentence. German aside, can you quote to me how many other non-scousers are on the board? A simple number will suffice. I have more questions on your idea to open national branches of SOS. Are you trying to turn SOS into a glorified supporters club? Thats how it seems. Similarly, how much input will these foreign branches really have in the running of SOS? Will they have the same power? Will they be autonomous and be allowed to run their own seperate campaigns in their own country? How will they communicate with Liverpool HQ? Simple emails? What happens if they want to visit and attend board meetings - bearing in mind they are volunteers will they have to stump up their own flight and accomodation costs? Or will SOS pay for that from the kitty? Dont get it. Are you trying to say that people will willingly listen to things they dont want to hear? Ok.
-
Not particularly. If you want to quote statistics at me, youll need to offer a significantly greater sample size to appease me.
-
I will wildly speculate based on the facts. One member has already alluded to emails being constantly ignored, and the trend of humanity is to ignore things they dont like.
-
Dear me. Im still perplexed by the attitude of certain individuals in this. One again, Phil, I will state that my email wouldnt be ignored for my OOC status, merely because SOS are a) too inept to recognise it and reply, or b) wont like what i have to say so will simply ignore it. That is my point, and from the testimony of another user above, all i can say is that i am feeling more and more vindicated. I had to laugh slightly inside myself when I learnt the rather valuable detail that Phil so cleverly decided to omit when telling me of the foreigner on the board - i think its quite important that he is indeed the foreign liason offical, or whatever his official title is. Admittedly a good move, and it gives the credibility for which they can be commended, but it must be questioned whether one person in the position one would expect to be a non-local is really representative of the fanbase. Im not even talking about foreigners as such, but how many "big" members are living outside liverpool at the minute? The part about having different branches is also ludicrous in my opinion - all you're doing is turning this into a glorified supporters club.
-
No, airing my views on a message board in a thread asking about SOS.
-
I will continue as I please.
-
The point on them ignoring me was a general point relating to the inept aura that eminates from the group, not my status as a non-scouser.
-
My list of pet hates: 1) People who claim my opinion is of lesser value than those who attend games. 2) *NEW ENTRY* People who claim I get criticise SOS because I havent tried to set up my own group. Yes, well done. My right to complain stems from the association of this group with my club. Its embarrassing. And whats the point in emailling to criticise them? They dont seem the type to take it on board and act upon it, otherwise theyve have bucked up their ideas long ago.
-
Probably a token gesture to keep foreign fans at ease. Come on, are you seriously telling me my view as a non-game going, out of country fan is going to be valued at the same level as someone who is at every game by SOS? Get a grip mate. I dont think it needs to be 200 words tbh. A slight exaggeration on your part, but lets not digress. The idea of that billboard was ill-inspired, and minimalism on the word front does not make it more efficient or understandable - in fact, theyve gone the opposite side of the line and made it incomprehensible to anyone who has never heard of SOS. Some sort of clue as to what they stood for would have far more beneficial in an attempt to gather some more public support. But alas no. They went down the route of attacking the owners, which may offer a giggle to insular memebers of the organisation for 5 seconds, but overall its not going to draw in new members and the effect will be non-existant.
-
Well thats it then. 1) Riera is gone. 2) If its true what he mentioned about other players getting frustrated about lack of dialogue then its the end of Rafa.
-
Well, that would be a damn sight better than what they opted for. The current one does nothing but advertise SOS among those who already understand what it is about - largely SOS members I would imagine, or those apathetic to joining. Its not going to inspire new members to join. Heres a simplified scenario. Im selling a new perfume. Those who know about it and want it already have. There are some who know about it but dont want it. The vast majority of people dont know about it. So, would i get more people interested by: a) creating an advertisment that says "PERFUME, SMELL, SPRAY IT!" b) creating an advertisement that gives an insight into the product. Unfortunately SOS would have made the wrong choice. All this aside, its a rather insular organisation, where it seems you have to be a born and bred scouser to possibly have any sort of standing within it. Why would I want to contribute to the coffers of an organisation that has no interest in me, never mind one that has an inept decision making policy?
-
And how does a cryptic billboard enlighten people about SOS or its policies?
-
Because the billboards are uber effective?
-
Ive always been quite cynical about these types of organisations. They only work when the people in charge of the targetted institution give a s***. Do GandH give a s*** about SOS? No they most certainly do not. Any dialogue between the club and SOS is merely to appease the members of SOS, there is no other way of viewing it. They may think they hold sway, but the basic facts show they dont, and they never will until they have an official representative inside anfield. And that certainly wont be happening.
-
By this logic, it was fine for everyone in Germany to join the Nazi's circa 1939.
-
Well done to all those salivating over one performance. Hes been decent over the season, but that doesnt mean we should have went for him, esp with Gerrard already there.
-
hahaaa FANTASTIC. Andy Gray such a t**. A definite stamp.
-
GET IN ETOO!
-
Shut up Andy. Never a penalty.
