Losing what battle? Id just provided pictoral evidence that Insua was no deeper than the RB, as you previously claimed.
-
Well I found a better stream. Ive marked out the lines on the pitch with orange lines for reference too. Insua doesnt look any further back than the right back.
-
FFS in that Fiorentina goal hes no further back at any stage than the RB. Take off the blinkers.
-
First one is from last season, and only shows the goal? You tried to say earlier that Insuas position cant be commented on unless i can see him off the ball, yet now you offer up a video that shows literally three seconds of a move? No dice. Its from last season also, so its not really applicable. Not sure how the second one is his fault. If they plan on playing a high line they need someone calling the line. Wouldnt really blame Insua as both the full backs are deeper than the centre backs. Flakey points, keep trying.
-
Liverpool were his first club then? Jesus man. Open up and realise he did have a career before Liverpool.
-
I wouldnt say he gets caught of position at all, more that he gets overwhelmed by pacey wingers. The ability to deal with these players will come with experience.
-
I know because they are professional who have position off the ball hammered into them. Its not difficuult to realise that theyll know where to stand, and how to defend as a unit. Full back is fairly simple to play positionally, and I trust Insua, who has professional experience in this position, knows what he is doing.
-
Haha tbf positioning off the ball is pretty basic. If you need to be in the stadium to confirm where a player is standing off the ball, you really dont know much about the tactical side of football, and how well trained pro's are.
-
While we're at it, shall we move Gerrard to left wing? I imagine his left foot isnt bad. Ridiculous idea. Negating one of our best players.
-
Think the point was that too many people are far too quick to offer opinions on players that they really know feck all about. Too many people are insular and if we dont sign a massive name / englishman, then OMGZZZ HEZ JUZT RUBISSH!!!!111

I think we need to invest in a left back who has enough experience to play a key role in the first team, but wont mind playing second fiddle to Insua at times, as I do think Insua is our long term Left back. I would put forward Jelle Van Damme. Hes strong, quick, good in the air and technically suited to support the winger in front of him in an attacking sense. He also has great teamwork and determination attributes. I dont think he would be overly expensive and has a decent level of experience in the CL and internationally. He'd terrify attackers, looking as he does as well. All part of the image and would be a great addition to the squad.

A left winger and a left back. Preferably one of those rather epic Valencia wingers - I dont care which as all of them would improve the team to no end. As for left back, Jelle Van Damme.

Haha how ridiculous. Im always rather amused by the extremely insular and naive attitude nature of the vast majority of football fans, who dont believe football outside their country is worthy of a mention or a glance. Such comments as I have quoted above highlight this quite nicely. Maxi was a key member of the last Argentina world cup team. Not only that I would definitely consider him to be amongst the top wingers in european football. We managed to get him on a free, yet some people deemed this not enough. Tell me, is a premium player for free not good enough? Today highlights the strengths and worth of Maxi to this team. Hes extremely intelligent with the ball, works his a*** off, and is technically good enough to contribute very positively to any attacking move, This was shown today with the linking up of Maxi and other players, especially in the first half. In summary, great player, we got him a cheap and will be an invaluable member of our team for the next few years.

A big bowl of alphaghetti. Maybe a slice of toast as an accompaning side. Look, I detect a certain tone from your post. If you wish to mock me, can you do it elsewhere and allow this thread to stay on topic?

I heard rumours that youre the worst replier. NEEEEEEEEEEEXT!

I for one reckon the introduction of a reknowned dietician/chef to the club would work wonders for the morale and general fitness of the club. I still do think this is an area of science that is under-utilised by many managers, with the typical football diet just being about pastas and the odd bit of fruit. I think Rafa has a niche here for which he can be remembered. If he brings diet to the forefront of Liverpool he could start a brand new effective approach within football. Just think - players that get the correct nutrition will be happier and more inclined to play well. I would propose the inclusion of certain vegetables in the diet. Carrots - to help our players see better at the night matches. Potatoes - Provide a lot of starch and go well with many things, making it ideal for a varied diet. Beans - enough of these and our players would have a lot more gust(o). Bananas - these contain a lot of essential vitamins and proteins to encourage growth. Larger quantities for smaller players. Cooked ham - Easy to prepare in a sandwich and quite nutritious. Tea/ Coffee - The caffeine would provide our players with a nice energy boost and keep them alert. I am thoroughly looking forward to this discussion as to how food an improve the woes of Liverpool. Feel free to agree/disagree/comment upon any of the points ive raised.

What? Define a good season please. In my opinion you have to look beyond the goals. And even if you do take a view that better season = more goals, he was rather special at Brighton.
-
Will this just not be worked around by buying them "gifts" throughout the season?
-
I dont think he'd ever be a mediocre player. There are some players who can be utilised to bring out the best in others - that would be the role of Zamora. His strength and ability to act as a target man would be perfect for Torres to play with, simply because Zamora being there would unsettle defences. Fulham fans still appreciated his ability and contribution to the team last season when he scored 2, so its clearly not just all about the goals. There is a lot more to consider.
-
Well im sold on the idea. Im asking other people to convince me otherwise.
-
Well Hull were buying him for 5m at the start at the season. Taking into account his aging status, as well as his form of course i reckon abuot 6m would suffice. I really do think he would be an invaluable member of the team, and could form a rather dashing partnership with Nando.
-
So: He's english Relatively cheap Can act as a target man Would hold the ball up well in Torres absence. Convince me otherwise. Great signing imo.
-
Well, Ive read the thread, and to keep it short and simple im still not convinced in the slightest that he couldnt do a job for us. Keep trying.
-
The only reason Torres wouldnt be dropped is because there is noone of similar ability. If there was anyone close and he was in s*** form then he'd be dropped. Not sure which top clubs Mcclaren and Allardyce have failed with either tbh.
-
Erm, is it not usual practice to take into a consideration how well a manager has performed recently? Pretty much the same way you look at form when picking a player?
