Just saw the Mourinho interview and him rooting out Dele Alli. I hadn't seen the incident at that time but he talked about players being out of position.. "We were unbalanced because when you are in possession you have full-backs out wide and another midfielder in a different line and they caught us in a counter-attack and they transformed the result of the game that was totally in our hands, so yes I am upset". They then showed the incident and I was expecting Stoke to be like the red arrows swiftly countering into the space to capitalise. Dele Alli loses it in his own half, Stoke pass the ball backwards and go back to the keeper who kicks it long and they win a flick on !! It must be bad between the 2 because Dele Alli didn't deserve the public deconstruction of a moment in a game they won 3-1. I thought it was the kind of comment that he'd save for the team meeting and not the media. Its like he used the incident to highlight just why he is not picking him. All I can see is Spurs trying to counter attack from deep and losing the ball. They then force Stoke back to the goalkeeper and the entire team push up. They cant win the header and can't track a runner, but having all your men behind the ball for a long clearance is not a counter attack - very poor form to create a false picture to drive your own player further into the ground. -
He’ll be a bit of unknown too. Like rattling that no-look pass into Mané at Goodson for the VAR disallowed goal. It may not look like he’s lining up anything but then raps a pass into Mo’s velcro boot to give him the split second extra ahead of the defender. Might not be as effective drilling them into Big Div of course.

I have missed/forgotten this. If the season is abandoned, then the team on top of the league wins it if 19 games have been played. I would have said this was becoming less of an issue until this recent new strain and the measures coming in. Who bloody knows whats ahead. But thanks for the reminder. EDIT: Nice one @Gethin - just seeing your post now.

I think this is what it feels like to be the team that has "already beaten" the opposition before the game starts. For the likes of Spurs & Leicester to come to Anfield and concede the territory against a depleted team, they are coming with gameplans knowing that they get 1-2 good chances over 90mins but have to be perfect defensively for 90mins. I hope that 7-0 leads to WBA and Newcastle taking a cautious approach. Hopefully we can get the goals to win the game but not have to expend too much energy doing it.

Great post Sammy. Its such a contrasting period - Dec19 vs Dec20. Last year was still the same calendar year that Man City when on a run of 14 games between Jan-May which was still fresh in the mind. It was also the season we hadn't won the league so we all still had that 'edge' having not won it. Now, we are a further 12 months down the line and still dominating teams and still doing it through adversity. City have not shown much over the last year either in terms of the form they had between 2017-19. Plus, we have the lovely feel of being champions. If we hadn't won it last year, would I still have the same confidence as I do now ? Probably not, only 4 points clear and still chasing a 1st league title is not that comfortable. But knowing our 1st team can win 20+ games in a row, and now our team battling with heavy rotation can still be 4pts clear - then I get confidence from players coming back and us getting stronger. But I am far more comfortable/confident now than I would have been if were in this position last year.

Utd have Everton away on Wednesday night then Leicester away at 12.30pm on 26th. I’m looking at the table assuming Utd have either win or drawn their game in hand so would be either level or ahead of Leicester. So preference is for a Leicester win or a draw in that game in the 26th. Leicester the play 28th away to Palace and Utd play 29th home to Wolves. -

Are we all hoping for a Leicester win or are some people preferring the draw ? Can't see anyone wanting a Spurs win. I was hoping for Leicester to batter them but its 0-0 after 45mins so will settle for a scruffy 0-1 winner. -
I was surprised by his 2nd goal, when I saw him drifting slightly away from goal and Guaita diving at his feet, I didnt think there was any room/angle to get the dink.

Putting 7-0 on Roy Hodgson won't do anything to encourage Sam Allardyce or Steve Bruce to do much attacking you'd imagine. Looking past the obvious "I'd take a 1-0 win", if we could get the opening goal relatively early in those game - maybe they could be 2 games that we don't kill ourselves in before Southampton. And yeah, I'd love two 1-0's
