but given the vocabulary, I thought it best to ask in here.

I actually don't like saying ****, either the straight F variety or with an -ing, -er, -ers, -ed, -ingly, -ingness, -face (although that is better) or off. I do use it, of course, and sometimes quite frequently when it seems appropriate, but I have never really thought it to be the best choice.

**** is useful (Kings of Denmark take note), and has the advantage of a sharper syllable at the front;

**** (and the -er form) is very much employed, especially in the phrase 'second rate **** stain'.

But none of the above are really original.

Cantonese equivalents make for comic relief at times but, overall, I'm not sure what is my preferred word.

Mind you, a phrase much used by the 10-year old sister of a boy in my class at school has stood the test of time and been given a recent airing: "ruddy, bloody, sodding, f***ing, c***"

Any thoughts?
