It's the best Irish film by a mile IMO, if only cos it was made near where I live

cracking film and the book is also brilliant (infact the whole series of books relating to jimmy jr and his family are fantastic)

The characters were all great.

 

One the funniest bits of the films is when Jimmy ask this person what do u play. He then goes I used to play footie. The Jimmys like no what instrument? The other fella goes I don't. Then what are u doing here? He asks. Finally the bloke says, I saw all of these ppl lining up and I thought you were selling drugs

Yes, and it also marked the first real film of one Colin Farrell. Apparently after that Spacey was pushing him all around Hollywood, which led to his role in Tigerland.

I thougt it was an entertaining film that spawned a thousand and one crap covers bands - to this day I shiver in disgust ever time I hear a Commitments style cover of Wilson Pickett, Artur Conley etc. when it should be the originals gaettin et airplay.

The Snapper is class - i love when the oldest son comes back from UN duty gets wrecked and gets up in the morn and pukes in the kitchen sink onto the dishes - and the father says: "I hope you are going wash those now"...and the son just walks off!
