I'm flirting with this idea. I called into one near me today and got their info..

£42 a month for unlimited access + classes/pool/saunas etc

is that cheap/ok/dear for such a package?

Anyone a regular user of a gym? Do you find it good?

That's about standard price around London. Depends on the quality of the gym though and how often you plan to go. 4/5 times a week and it works out alright I find. I get a discount through work though so I also only pay £18 a month and it comes out of my pay.

LA Fitness will try to get £45 a month out of you but if you say that you know others to be paying £33, then you'll get it lowered. As Mike says, force them into a month by month deal. Tell them your circumstances mean that you spend alot of time away and that it's not economical to have permanent membership.

Best advice of all is to choose a gym that is on your route home and go straight from work. If you have to go home first, chances are that you'll skip it.

aye I've heard that...this is monthly and it's the premium package meaning it's not limited by any certain times etc..that's the only one that suits really. So for the extra 5 quid or so - means i'd go when i want rather than when i have to...

cheers

I was paying £58 a month to use all of Bromley's facilities ( that's for the whole family) and included the ability to book stuff earlier than others and allowed the kids to go to playzones etc. I thought that was a good deal. The missus went in and said she thought it was too much and we'd been members for over 2 yrs.

They reduced it by £10 a month.

I joined one, went about six times but kept the membersip going for three years just in case I felt like picking it up again. never set foot in there again after about the first two months though.

Must have been difficult running on the treadmill with your shoes!

Did you have those special weights which are actually balloons which have 100kg written on them?
