'wait for the whistle'

on FKs feckin annoys me. If the attacking team wants to take it quickly, the ref should have no right to prevent that - apart from injuries etc. Invariably it hands away some of the advantage the attacking team is seeking to gain.

Remember years ago, Spurs were k/o of the Cup while fecking around with the wall, their opponents just took a quick fk, knocked it wide & blam. Goal & bye-bye Spurs. Feckin great that was

It all depends on the seriousness of the free-kick, how the game is going in general and many more.

Quick free-kicks are not a right, a lot of the time the team themselves want the opponents the full 10 yards.

What about the quickie that catches an opponent on the hands when they are standing far too close to the ball? I like that one very much indeed.

(I won't though bring myself to name the most obvious exponent of said tactic...)

in the sunday league games that I watch a lot of, the refs are pretty sensible about it - they let the quick fks get taken most of the time as long as the side taking it are willing to accept the consequences if it gets ballsed up e.g. hititng it into a player who isn't then yards back. makes me laugh when they complain about stuff like that

Oh yeah, if you want the opponents 10 yards back, then fine. But say a tactical foul is made - it's 4 on 4. FK is given, ref says 'wftw' & suddenly 4 defensive players become 11
