I guess the expecation would be that Gerrard drops into the middle with Xabi, but it might not be that cut and dried. I am not 100% sure Rafa is that comfortable with Xabi and Gerrard alone against the better teams. I think its also fair to suggest our extra defensive solidity is partially down to Momo. He doesn't give the opposition teams a second's peace.

 

So, what are the options and what way might we go?

 

Play Gerrard and Xabi and drop Momo to the bench - use him when Xabi/Gerrard need a rest?

3 in midfield with Gerrard playing ahead of Momo & Xabi?
