Fridges - Council Disposal

Getting a new fridge this weekend and i know that my council do a disposal thing but what do they do with them when they take them?

 

If they re-condition them thats cool but i'll feel bad if they throw it in a landfill - it actually works fine, it just our landlord wants to get a new one - it has a squeaky fan aswell but thats easily fixable, i just need to get shut of it, but in a karmically rewarding way.
