Anyone fly KLM?

Heading to Amsterdam then onward to Calgary the following day. Flying KLM. Checked in and the ‘system’ gave us keek seats - middle two in a row of 4. FFS!!! Just checked and there are loads of pairs of seats together. It’s a 2-4-2 layout. Bastids want £42 per seat. If there any still free seats would the cabin crew be sympathetic to an arthritic pensioner with Crohns (Me) and a very recently, 3 days ago, retired nurse with 43 years in the profession with Breast Cancer. (The Mrs). 
If I was one of the crew I’d bump a couple like that to Business Class.
