Kenya question

About to go to Kenya - if you're travelling there is it better to buy the local currency or just take Sterling or USD and exchange locally? Anyone have any idea? Seems to be loads of conflicting advice out on the interweb. Feck knows why I think it'll be any different on here but I'm a born optimist.
