Coast to Coast walk

Anyone done it?

 

Hoping to maybe do it this summer as a fundraiser for a school in Sierra Leone I worked in and for the memorial fund of a mate from school who died suddenly over the summer.

 

I've set my target as to have recovered from my ruptured achilles (5 weeks post-op tomorrow) to be able to do it, which should be achievable (hoping to be doing gentle exercise early in the New Year and then build it up).

 

So - if anyone has done it - any tips? Can you camp overnight along the route or are you looking at hostels etc? I've got the little Wainwright guide but he covers mainly just the actual route itself.
