Mobile Phone 3G/wifi help

I'm slightly helpless when it comes to mobiles.

 

Basically need a mobile that i can connect to the local wireless network at work or home with. That means i need wifi doesn't it? or is it 3g?

Been offered the 8520 curve on o2 for a great price... but it doesn't have 3g. Would this prevent me in any noticeable way?

Would sites like youtube be locked with it as well? like they were on my viewty, or would i be able to visit them all?
